(57,073 posts)Sick of their bs appeals! Yes, it is the way the US justice system works, but this is ridiculous!
I hope judge ordered immediate release of records.

(57,073 posts)Appeals were only allowed if a procedural error occurred during the 1st session. Not because one doesn't like the result.

(9,952 posts)that was the end. I am wondering if he keeps doing that second step a number of times with different argument. I didn't know one could do that.
SheltieLover
(57,073 posts)Not sure.

(1,850 posts)The only recourse is impeachment, and the GOP Senate isn't going to do that. So there are zero incentives for him to do anything any court tells him to do.
Of course, once he's out of office, there might be jail time involved. All the more reason for him to ignore the results of the election and demand a new one.

Lock him up.
(6,939 posts)... or even all of them. Once the Electoral-College electors vote, it's done. 270+ is all it takes, unless there is irrefutable evidence it was rigged, something the oRange viRu$$ia never provided in all his con jobs.

The judge is onto what the idiot is doing - stall until after the election so his team is attempting to appeal again. To any lawyers here: how long can he keep up this appeal nonsense? And in the meanwhile can Vance proceed w/ his case to get the banks to comply?

(42,737 posts)or further appeal is issued.
The Supreme Court remanded (sent back) this case to the district court with leave given to Trump to file new arguments for blocking th the release not based on the absolute immunity argument he had made and that the SCOTUS rejected. Pursuant to the SCOTUS order, he filed an amended complaint to block the returns from being released (remember, he isn't directly releasing them...his accountants are the ones in possession. The district court has rejected the new complaint and Trump can and will appeal that decision and seek a stay. If he doesn't get the stay, he'll appeal that decision. Eventually it will make its way back to the SCOTUS.

(9,952 posts)continuously using the SC for our bidding. So this is forever and not gonna happen before election.

(42,737 posts)you are right. But its not true that "none" of us get the same opportunity to continue to fight in the courts until a final, non-appealable judgment has been issued.

They are not going to comply before Nov 3 unless the court starts issuing contempt charges.
Absent enforcement, this will take 3 years.

(111,318 posts)Until Judge Marrero gets a little tougher than just circular filing the bogus arguments, they're going to continue to try to run out the clock.
It will be great fun if the clock runs out in October and the Republicans are the ones who get surprised.

(16,178 posts)that's usually the next pitch. But then he'll have to admit what we all know. He's to old and infirm to be pretending he's president.

(16,847 posts)the Republicans nominate their candidates. If it's something bad enough implicating Trump, they might dump him. He probably will blackmail any of them who abandon him, though. If they have more, they need to go ahead and release it.

(2,572 posts)Could the RNC be scheming to dump him at the convention? It would certainly be easier to do remotely than at the typical brawling con.

I was embarrassed from them ... and that says a lot since my opinion of their legal expertise ranks lower than dog shit.

(3,922 posts)Career criminals are often quite good at gaming the legal system, as we are continuing to see from this administration.
So today, yet another ruling against trump - in a continuing series of rulings against him. Frankly, I can't recall any ruling actually going his way. This includes the myriad court cases against him and the ill-fated and much maligned Mueller Report.
Yet, nothing happens.
Aside from the mystery of how much in legal fees this is all costing, the game, like whack-a-mole, is to keep 'em guessing for as long as possible - perhaps to the expiration of limitations which is an issue in this case.
Already, the WH Crime Family has applied for an emergency stay and an appeal to the Supreme Court,, which to this lay person seems redundant. The SCOTUS has already ruled that the Crime Family can appeal to the merits of the subpoena, which they did, and this ruling today shot that down.
But on we go. Not sure when the Stuate of Limitations on this matter expire, but Cy Vance Jr., the prosecuting attorney, has already raised that possibility of the courts don't issue a final soon.
Aside from the legal argument, readers here will wonder as I do: What kind of idiot would still support this Crime Family??
