I don't mean who you are going to vote for. That should be a no brainer. I mean by mail, dropping of ballot in person, or in the ballot box on Election Day.
I live three blocks aways from the polling place in NYC so I'm going to go vote on Election Day. I always go first thing in the morning. There has never been more than a couple of people in line when I go.
I might be working as a poll worker on Election Day this year. I have never done it before but I think it will be interesting.

(11,017 posts)The county sent me a form and return envelope. Looks promising.

Vote!! Even nowadays, this simple word 'Vote' means so mean, being that the thug in the WH is trying everything and anything dirty under the sun to steal the elections.

(60,010 posts)Voting place is a quick 2 minutes drive down the street. Never have had lines, people show up in a steady trickle.

(5,559 posts)Even before this mess I avoided trusting anything important to the postal service. Way too many lost letters and other screwups over the years.

(6,377 posts)In my county, you can vote at any polling location. There's a fire station down the street from me. As long as I'm there when the polls open, I don't anticipate having to wait.

(123 posts)I mean, can you check if your ballot was received and counted?

(44,974 posts)Some states allow you to track your ballot. You go online, to track your ballot website for your state, enter your information and see if your ballot has been accepted.

(45,120 posts)Scroll down the page and look for "mail ballot status."
It should list the 2016 General Election and your status should say accepted or rejected.
If it says rejected, it may be because you didn't sign your envelope, because the signature on your mail in ballot envelope didn't match what officials have on record, because you didn't include a requested form of ID or another reason.
Voters whose ballots are rejected will get a letter explaining why in the mail, according to Secretary of State Wayne Williams.
If it says accepted they received and counted your ballot.

(10,054 posts)My county (Broward) has a few good options with mail in ballots: drop off at either the election office or at my polling station, so I will be dropping off my mail in ballot at one or the other. Our voting season is right in the middle of our hurricane season, so standing in line on election day is not a solid plan. I used to do early voting (loved the "I voted sticker" but again, can't predict the weather. We have two storms (Laura & Marco) giving us the stink-eye as we speak....

Other parts of town do have to wait.

(1,086 posts)In Minneapolis. That would be Monday September 21.
Although I would have no problem voting at the precinct on election day. The precincts I helped set up for the primary had two to three times the expected election turn out and could have easily handled 10 times that amount safely.

(44,974 posts)So I am now committed to voting absentee (I am not allowed to change my mind in OH).
I will have to see how mail delivery goes and how long it will take to be delivered to me before I decide if would mail it back. My only other option (if it arrives to me) is to drop it in a drop box (not convenient in OH, only one drop box per county, and I live nowhere near it). If the ballot doesn't arrive to me, I will be allowed to vote provisional on election day.

(123 posts)I just dropped off my family's ballots for the Democratic Primary for Massachusetts Senator at the newly installed drop box at city hall.
Will do same, early for the General Election as soon as I get the ballot.
Unless you are absolutely sure that you will vote in person, I suggest everybody does it the same way if you get the ballots early enough.
Time is of the essence too, so hopefully we can get the results by election night. Would hate for any uncertainty after the election because of waiting for mail in votes to be counted.
