"It's called the U.S. Postal Service, not the U.S. Postal Corporation."

I heard someone say that earlier today on TV.

He was making the point that it was there to serve the people, not to be run as a business. It is not there to make a profit for its stockholders.

They need to stop screwing with our postal service.

1. A Repub friendish (you know, once a friend, now I'm not sure he's worth it)

said, "The USPS doesn't make a profit. It doesn't even pay its own way."

I had to say, "Neither does the army. Neither does NASA. Neither does Congress. Neither does the highway department. Neither does your school system."

The GOP did a good job making us think that the post office is supposed to be a money-making entity, not a necessary service founded by Ben Franklin and set in the constitution.

3. They think everything should be a big old fat bloated business

Of course we all know that rich people don't like government like the post office. They can't squeeze money out of it, cutting corners and quality to jam every fat stack of cash possible into their own pockets. You can bet your last dollar that a handful of people who have more money than they could spend in 20 lifetimes are the ones behind the message your friend spewed.

6. "IF we can't make a killing on its stock, why does it exist?"

My friend-ish - I used to think he was really intelligent, but I realize he just takes marching orders. He wrote pages and pages cogently 'justifying' Trump using the post office to strangle mail-in voting, lots and lots of "evidence", and I realized-- two weeks ago, he didn't care one jot about this. Trump sent out some talking points, and this poor fool painstakingly "researched" (on Breitbart) the issue and did all this work, and I know next week Trump will be hating on toenails, you know, and my friend will be obediently researching how toenails are a Chinese hoax.

5. I got in an argument yesterday who thought the government should be a business

I couldn't get through to him that governments are not there to make profits.

I should have know how futile it was to even talk politics with him. The last time he voted was for Ross Perot and since he lost, the idiot has not voted.
