I didn't even think about animals etc.

Remember that Saturday at 11am (local time) are nationwide protests at Post Offices throughout the US!

The Postal Service is the only entity that ships live chicks and other small animals and has done so since 1918, according to the service’s website.

“Rural Americans, including agricultural producers, disproportionately rely on USPS for their livelihoods, and it is essential that they receive reliable service,” Pingree said.

I’d be afraid to mail anything live that isn’t a plant or bait. Unless I was FedExing it or something.

Thanks for the education.

None of the parcel services ship animals at all.

There has been NOTHING wrong with the USPS shipping animals and other sensitive merchandise until Republicans decided they wanted to destroy, chop up, and make profit off of the vast infrastructure of the Post Office.

Despite anecdotal problems and perception of the USPS as a "bad agency" it has the highest public approval of any government agency.

FedEx and UPS are better at marketing themselves than USPS and they carry such fewer volume than USPS that they can focus on speed of delivery of parcels.

But that’s just me. Nothing against the USPS.

In fact, I actually wouldn’t have looked at USPS as a “government agency” before, maybe, ten or so years ago. I don’t think I’m alone in that thinking, and suspect that’s a big reason its approval rating is so high. As government agencies go, USPS is super-efficient—especially when it’s NOT run by a political hack...

package sorting machines. This looks to be caused by the refusal of USPS to allow overtime to sort packages and maybe a slow down of USPS employees sorting packages. Plus we know that Trump wants to hurt Bezos. Seems to be the perfect storm.

All those rats, rotting food, dead animals are not meant to be in the middle of a business place full of workers. What of the postal vans that make deliveries? I can't even imagine.
The health department should be called.

Chicks shipped by mail are arriving dead, costing Maine farmers thousands of dollars

Last week Pauline Henderson was shocked when she picked up a shipment of what was supposed to be 800 live chicks from her post office in New Sharon.

Henderson, who owns and operates Pine Tree Poultry, a family farm and chicken meat processing facility that specializes in chicken pot pies, said all 800 chicks sent from a hatchery in Pennsylvania were dead.

“We’ve never had a problem like this before,” said Henderson, who has been running her farm for five years and regularly receives shipments of live birds.

“Usually they arrive every three weeks like clockwork,” she said Wednesday. “And out of 100 birds you may have one or two that die in shipping.”
