CAR PARADES FOR BIDEN

I just read a post about a golf cart parade for Biden at The Villages in Florida, of all places.

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100213946029#post3

What a great way to celebrate Joe Biden and draw attention to his campaign!

This is something many of us at DU could do in our communities between now and the election. And on Election Day.

I'm going to do this. Just get a half dozen or more fellow Democrats to hang signs on their cars, drive in a row and honk. No parade permits needed. People do this for birthdays and graduations in my neighborhood.

Spread the word.

1. You Know I think they used to have Car Parades in the 1960s

I remember my Dad was a Democratic party Precinct Chairman and ran several campaigns in Texas and I vaguely remember a car parade in Dallas for the first female candidate for Mayor in Dallas--I believe her name was Elizabeth Blessing

3. I'll sit this one out - Conserving fuel is one of my core beliefs

Hell, I don't even do that drive thru shit.

That being said, I can support walks.

6. Walks are good

I agree that conserving fuel is important. I drive a secondhand Prius that gets awesome mileage.

These don't have to be long parades over any distances. Just a 10-minute spin around the neighborhood can work.

7. I like walks too

bearing in mind the necessity for social distancing and face masks. It certainly would be horrible if any MAGATs were triggered by the sight of a diverse, civil crowd keeping safe.

4. Going out on a limb here...

but I consider it highly likely that more people donít have access to a golf cart than those who do. Like the two the of this OP suggests, car parades are far more accessible to far more people. By way of comparison, donít rumpís boat parades come off as somewhat elitist? One would expect residents of The Villages to have a golf cart parade; some of them may not even own a car. A golf cart parade elsewhere, however, may strike some as elitist.

5. You are absolutely right

Car parades are what I'm suggesting.

I made a typo saying carts when I meant cars, but edited the post to correct it.
