A friend had a run in with a mask hole today

I haven’t seen any problems around where I live, generally people are following the rules. But he was in the grocery store and some guy bumped into him. He saw that this guy didn’t have a mask and told him he ought to have one on (it’s mandatory around here). They guy got pissed and got right up in his face so my friend pushed him away. Didn’t hear details of who said what but the other guy apparently accused him of assault. Nothing came of it but my friend said when he looked into the other’s eyes he was full of rage and hatred.

That seemed to me as a defining characteristic of Trumpers; a general unfocused rage and hatred. A second characteristic seems to be willfull ignorance and resentment of “intellectuals” which is really anyone smarter than they are. That’s another big draw to trump, he daily let’s his followers know that he is at least as ignorant as they are.

Number 3 would be a sense of entitlement and a very narrow and skewed view of America’s place in the world and history.

5. Right wing media fuels this rage. I was driving through Southern Oregon recently and I happened

on a radio talk show hosted by a woman I had never heard of and she was going on about masks. It wasn't a reasonable conversation, it was hate directed at liberals trying to take away her imaginary freedom. I think folks who listen to this stuff are in a constant state of anxiety and outrage and exhibit it in interactions like the one you have described.
