(24,395 posts)of the issues at hand. Notice how easily he is manipulated by Rs, as Bill never has anything prepared that drills down past his initial question. All one needs do is toss out a supposed fact and hes helpless.
That, and hes stuck in a 1950s vision of whats funny. Who else still tosses the word bitch around like its a laugh trigger? Cringeworthy stuff.

(16,352 posts)The writing on the show used to be snappy and smart but it hasnt been that way for a few years now. He also constantly uses out of date poll info. If theres 8 polls that show the Dems up 10 pts nationally hell use the one that says theyre up by 3 and then talk about how were blowing it again.

(92,116 posts)I said forget it
I stopped watching him a few years back when he was pushing the doctor who said goat milk cures HIV, and his anti-vaxer inclination
Decided to give him a try a couple of weeks ago. I am through with him
His show isn't enjoyable anymore.
Jon Oliver though is excellent. Oliver does talk very quickly and you can miss a lot of stuff, but he is good

(9,952 posts)I like Seth and the Noah, never watch Maher. He is right there with Moore. Both sexist. Not my thing. But with Oliver, even being informed like I am, I always learn something.

(11,446 posts)I have watched him unravel. And certain people don't belong on tv because covid and staying home not able to do their regular life has impacted them really hard. Bill is one of those.

(7,396 posts)turns out to be of interest. Otherwise I can't even remember how long it has been since I looked for his show. Some of it has been provocative, funny, entertaining, but a lot is a bit cringeworthy.

(2,248 posts)He's looking like he can't cope.
The shows from his home are unwatchable. Tuned out weeks ago. The content, opinions and jokes feel mean coming from someone who is miserable. I could let earlier stuff slide, but lately I'm just not aligned with anything he has to say.

(267 posts)What do you expect? Maher leans more liberal, even somewhat progressive than most libertarians, but he's still at heart a libertarian shock jock.

(2,017 posts)Hes not that funny. Hes white, privileged, and afraid to lose any of it. He loves playing with conservatives to try to make himself look like the cleverest dick in the room. But in the end, hes just that terrified old white guy yelling You kids stay off my lawn! Every night hes on.

(23,522 posts)Studs was hard of hearing and he actually made fun of him for it right there in the interview. I was fuming.

(35,432 posts)Younger people have a greater sense of history and empathy that Maher's generation lacked. What Maher calls "woke". Others would call it being sensitive to other people's history.
He should retire.
