Washington Postal Workers Defy USPS Orders And Reinstall Mail Sorting Machines
https://www.forbes.com/sites/danielcassady/2020/08/22/washington-postal-workers-defy-usps-orders-and-reinstall-mail-sorting-machines/#273e4f215f80
Postal workers in Washington State have reinstalled high-speed mail sorting machines—dismantled after controversial orders from the U.S. Postal Service— despite USPS orders not to put machines back in use. ************************************************************************* I hope a lot more locations follow Washington State lead.

Cat's out of the bag now. Dejoy cannot prohibit them at this point. He needs to be removed and i believe after the House hearing on Monday he will be forced to resign and face mail & election tampering charges. This is extremely serious and Dems Congressional men & women must take their gloves off & get this stopped ASAP. No more nice guy hearings. We're dealing with thugs & crooks here.

...the anti-striking! By getting the sorters back online, they would be doing their jobs 100x more productively! They should go on anti-strike in absolute defiance of these thugs just like the Washington based employees did!
“Stop putting those sorters back online!” “Make me.” Imagine they brought in cops to arrest postal employees trying to fix the sorters and go their jobs more efficiently. Drag them away trying to do their job in public. That would be fun! |

33. Here is an explanation...
... of the rational from the Washington Post, along with some pros and cons.
Basically, the volume of mail that can be sorted by machine is going down, while the volume that can't (packages and flats) is going up. The machines seem to be under utilized, while the space they occupy is needed for processing packages. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/08/20/postal-service-mail-sorters-removals/ |

58. Not buying it
Why the rush to get the machines out and then destroying them as soon as possible especially with the high probability of a universal vote by mail presidential election. If they were no longer needed they could have been pulled but left near their sorting center in case they were needed for the election. Its just like with removing the mail boxes in certain places. Why the big hurry even if they are being underutilized it doesn't hurt anything to leave them in place until after the election. Here's hoping that more centers ignore DeJoy and reinstall the machines. Somebody should be contacting the manufacturer to see if any missing parts can be acquired.

Then they face disruption or shutting down. Lots of things depend on workers doing their jobs and getting results. Management is often unaware of details. If they make workers' lives difficult, they can find an understaffed, uncooperative workforce.
