Turns out, Liberty Univ. is same as Trump Univ.

I'd read some time back about the questionable finances of Liberty. Now it is revealed that WE are
paying for the courses.
It's a diploma mill, pure and simple.

while the college boasts an in-person enrollment of 15,500, it enrolls as many as 95,000 remote students in a given year. It’s the nation’s second-largest online college after the for-profit behemoth University of Phoenix.

Snip..........By 2017, Liberty students were receiving more than $772 million in total aid from the Department of Education — nearly $100 million of it in the form of Pell grants and the rest in federal student loans.
Among universities nationwide, it ranked sixth in federal aid.
Liberty students also received Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, some $42 million in 2016, the most recent year for which figures are available.
Although some of that money went to textbooks and nontuition expenses, a vast majority of Liberty’s total revenue that year, which was just above $1 billion, came from taxpayer-funded sources.

Snip........Two recruiters told me they were instructed to quote L.U.O.’s cost on a per-credit basis,
rather than per-course, which makes it sound more affordable.
Undergraduate courses for part-time students are $455 per credit, or $1,365 for a typical course; master’s courses are typically about $600 per credit.
They are instructed not to press prospective applicants too hard on their academic qualifications.
Applicants have to submit past transcripts, but any grade point average above 0.5 — equivalent to a D-minus — would suffice, said the former employee in the nonmilitary division. Recruiters, he told me, “would say, ‘Congratulations, you’ve been accepted.’ They’d make it seem competitive.”

And here's the money shot:
a 2013 audit of Liberty found that, while it raked in $749 million in tuition and fees,
it spent just $260 million on instruction, student support, and financial services.

5. Their "science" courses are not accepted in transfer by a lot of institutions.

At best they are required to take another course once they are tested.

12. NotbTerribly Bad, Though

The average among private universities is around 53% in 4 years, 65%+ in 6 years.
State & public universities are at 33.3 in 4 years & 57.6 in 6 years.
So, 40% (which might be the average for all year intervals) appears a bit below average. Not terrible.
Now, given the dubious nature of their degrees, it might be way worse than the numbers suggest. But, that's subjective. Nothing we can prove.

10. I knew their standards were low

I live not ridiculously far from there and in a place with many evangelicals and teach a good number of seniors. A non trivial number of those who wind up going to Liberty have very low GPAs.

This kind of fraud is beyond belief.

14. As Is Usually The Case, Ma'am

People who complain about waste and abuse of 'government giveaways' do so because they are sure everyone else has the same warped moral compass they do.

re-run not long ago. She didn't do very well, but she did get there.
