Hillary Clinton urges Biden not to concede in close election

(MSN) Hillary Clinton, who lost to Donald Trump in 2016, said Tuesday that this year's Democratic challenger Joe Biden should refuse to concede until all votes are counted in a tight and possibly drawn-out contest. Clinton said that possible delays in tallying ballots -- with mail-in voting set to reach unprecedented levels -- mean Biden must hold back from accepting defeat initially.

"Joe Biden should not concede under any circumstances because I think this is going to drag out and, eventually, I do believe he will win if we don't give an inch and if we are as focused and relentless as the other side," Clinton said in an interview with Showtime's "The Circus."

Clinton, who won almost three million more votes than Trump overall in 2016 but lost to him in the state-by-state electoral college count, suggested that the Republicans are hoping to get the result they want through in-person voting on the day -- and not necessarily wait for any delayed mail-in ballots to be counted.

Her comments follow warnings from both sides that the result of the election may not be known on the evening of November 3rd. Republicans "have a couple of scenarios that they are looking toward. One is messing up absentee balloting," she said. "They believe that helps them so that they then get maybe a narrow advantage in the electoral college on election day," Clinton said.

She called for Democrats to mount a "massive legal operation." (Read More)

This country has got to learn that we aren't equipped to have instantaneous, accurate results. I wish VP Gore and Sec Clinton had gone through a recount, and I wish the country hadn't gone through those tough times with W and Trump in power. These elections are too important to be decided by 10:00 on election night. We should have a complete automatic recount every time.

I wonder if Gore would have done better if he had chosen Zell Miller instead of Lieberman. He might have won GA, but I'm not sure about CT. It's fun to think about this stuff sometimes. Any choice that would have prevented 9/11 and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars would have definitely been worth it...........................unless somebody else got pissed off and we got a world war to take the place of those conflicts. Sometimes it's better to accept what you've been given.

news and analysis regarding 9/11, but I remember reading that the Clinton administration was much further ahead in intelligence research. I read that Clinton's people were aware of Bin Laden's activity in 2000 and 2001. If Gore had gone into office in 2001, there's a good chance that Bin Laden's schemes would have been laid bare.

We ceased being a full democracy at that point - all the more so after the 2004 Ken Blackbox heist.

But 2016 really pushed us down the slippery slope of banana republicanism - one as slippery as a banana peel.

2020 may be our last chance back from the brink.

Do *not* concede. Let us take Trump's projection and turn it around: Trump claims that if he loses, it is a fraudulent outcome. We say that if Biden does not win, *that* is the fraudulent outcome. Trump and GOP voter suppression has reached new depths that are astounding and shameless.

All the polls indicate a Biden win; and the election day exit polls will probably also indicate a Biden win (unless they are "corrected" to match the stolen results in key swing states, as happened in 2016). (Reference: Greg Palast.)

Be ready for an inside/outside strategy and action: legal court challenges by DNC lawyers, and we the people peacefully protesting in the streets, in every major city and town in the nation.

Let us be inspired by the good people of Belarus, who have been demonstrating in the streets for two weeks, since the day of their election (August 9) that was stolen by their president for life (26 years) Lukashenko.

And Biden must remember to be tough, and stay strong. This election is not just about him; it is literally to save the country and to save our democratic republic.

Do not concede until all possible suspicions of cheating have been resolved.

In 2000, Al Gore conceded for the good of the country. Any Trump victory will be the end of the United States as we know it.
