Eric Swalwell tells it like it is.

This is not a political convention. It’s a crime scene.

CBS News

Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf presides over a naturalization ceremony at the White House during the RNC. His appearance is an apparent violation of the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal employees from performing political activities on duty

It's just that if the RNC is concurrently run there, naturalization ceremonies as part of the convention are Hatch Act violations. Otherwise, naturalization ceremonies can be held there.

It's not the first time different parts of cabinets have been combined under one official new cabinet agency.

But yeah, THIS one, DHS, is too damned big. And under Trump, way too dangerous.

Since naturalization is not under states' authority, it's federal because citizenship is granted for constitutional rights no matter where the citizen wants to live or go.

...now that you mention it.

And yeah, just about ANYTHING under Trump's control is dangerous. It should have been obvious in 2016, but for all the HillaryHate.

I guess this is just something else we'll need to fix, PDQ, once we make Trump a private citizen again.

Agree. We're always the cleanup crew for the destroyers of good governance and equality under the law. It's one looong list.

We're not good at enforcement. That's ANOTHER thing we have to fix or else none of the fixes will hold up. Courts should not be able to lazily apply the law, either. They should be required to remedy harms expeditiously. Right now, they don't.

These days, Franklin keeps echoing in my head, "A Republic, sir, if you can keep it."

The Black Man Did It. So when Biden/Harris bitch slap their asses out, do any damn thing you want. “But Trump did it.” Sorry Michelle but damn the high road. Burn the GOP to the ground, with help from Germany, Canada, Mexico, UK, All the shithole countries, in plain view, and send bug eyed vein bulging hate mobs after Fox, threaten their lives everyday. Nobody outside the Beltway will care. Foreclose on all Trump properties, Mnuchin style. Make em all gated communities for people of color, any white walk nearby, run out with assault rifles. Tax the hell out of churches. Wanna play politics, ya gotta pay.

Knock them so far down it will take a decade or more for them to field a candidate. Wishful thinking but would be great.

One thing I was thinking about prosecutions if Joe wins--the Trump admin isn't made up of politicians from the DC good old boy network, so maybe the Dems will be less likely to "put it behind us". Also an example really needs to be made that this kind of shit doesn't fly in the US.

the Hatch Act is drilled into our heads on a regular basis to the point of paranoia of even speaking of anything political.

By this example, I should be able to cover my desk in Joe/Kamala stickers and be just fine, right?

Literally, this old German saying means, "Where there is no judge, there will be no hangman," or, in practical terms, if no one is going to charge you with a crime, you will never be convicted of one.

It goes without saying that Germans 200 years ago had never heard of Kenosha, Wisconsin.

They know nobody is going to press any charges, and they have nothing to lose, so they're planning on breaking every and any law to disrupt a fair election.

Remember, he talked about postponing the election. He can't have that, so he'll break laws—and he'll be getting tips from the king of fucked up elections: Putin.

Someone on either here or on FB said that in 2016: we'd better watch Trump, because Putin did everything including killing, to make sure he was always elected.
