Category 4 Laura strengthens, may bring 'unsurvivable' storm surges in Louisiana and Texas (Original Post) BeckyDem Aug 2020 OP
I'm so happy they threw "unsurvivable" in there. Hell, Biden's campaign should use it soothsayer Aug 2020 #1

I've certainly never heard of one.

Whoever wrote that should receive the next Master of the Bleeding Obvious Award.

A category 4 is not much less then a 5. stay safe! This is going to be a long night for Louisiana. I was in Irma and thought my house was a goner. It was also a scary night.

Hurricane Laura, CAT 4, has reported 150 mph sustained winds. CAT 5 is +157 mph and this storm is close!

Are they in danger or are they too far inland? I texted them, but have not heard back, so I am worried.

Houston-area residents urged to stay off the road after 8 p.m.

The Houston Chronicle’s Live Updates blog documents the latest updates regarding Hurricane Laura, as the storm nears Houston and Southeast Texas.

Why we don't expect Hurricane Laura to turn at the last minute to hit Houston
Most of the Houston area is now outside the forecast cone, with the exception of extreme eastern Liberty and Chambers counties.

Very helpful! They finally got back to me. They got their boat out of the lake (they are actually in Montgomery) and they said it's very windy and cool, but they are safe so far. I am relieved that it won't seem to hit them that far west.

drifting northwestward more toward Beaumont, Port Arthur and Lake Sabine. Very large tornado warning areas now approaching Lake Charles.

I'm seeing many tide gauges rising rapidly now and the bayous are backing up.

Looks like landfall a few miles east of the mouth of the Sabine River and tracking up a little east of Port Arthur and Beaumont but directly over Orange, TX.

Thoughts and DU hugs going out to everyone in the path of this monster...........
