(19,382 posts)A category 4 is not much less then a 5. stay safe! This is going to be a long night for Louisiana. I was in Irma and thought my house was a goner. It was also a scary night.

Why we don't expect Hurricane Laura to turn at the last minute to hit Houston

(63,221 posts)Very helpful! They finally got back to me. They got their boat out of the lake (they are actually in Montgomery) and they said it's very windy and cool, but they are safe so far. I am relieved that it won't seem to hit them that far west.

(14,782 posts)drifting northwestward more toward Beaumont, Port Arthur and Lake Sabine. Very large tornado warning areas now approaching Lake Charles.
I'm seeing many tide gauges rising rapidly now and the bayous are backing up.
Looks like landfall a few miles east of the mouth of the Sabine River and tracking up a little east of Port Arthur and Beaumont but directly over Orange, TX.
Thoughts and DU hugs going out to everyone in the path of this monster...........
