For myself, Yankee up here, fretting

(10,297 posts)Im in Austin. I live near here.
The hurricane roared up the Red River Valley through East Texas and Louisiana. The folks in the Piney woods are the folks to fret about.
Somewhere between Memphis and St. Louis, the storm is supposed to take a right turn and go up the Ohio River Valley.
EDIT: I should add that this hotel is currently hosting a lot of people from Metro Houston and East Texas who chose to play it safe.

(5,858 posts)but the area of LA east of Baton Rouge is getting killed. It is supposed to be a Cat 2 when it hits Shreveport (very NW corner of LA) later.
Listening to the radio they haven't even had communications with some of the small towns near the LA/TX border yet.

(14,704 posts)We should get rain later today.
We have clients in Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and Monroe, LA. Lots of wind and water damage in Lake Charles, but everyone I know, and their families, are safe.
Parts of Monroe have lost power and the storm is headed their way.

(32,017 posts)The eye is about 300 miles to our ESE, at this point, and its expected to track North and then East as the day progresses. All good here (although we are hosting a good number of storm refugees in our area). Theyre wigged out, naturally.

(13,913 posts)some. Just texted my niece in New Orleans for an update of what they're seeing there. I'd imagine alot of outer bands rain but they were spared the brute force of a direct hit, thank goodness.
