It is true there are police officers who are dedicated white nationalists.

It is true that an enduring white nationalist fantasy is that some individual's action may spark a nationwide race war. This usually takes the form of some act by a black against a white, and the idea of doing something that could be made to look like something a black did to a white is at least as old as Charlie Manson.

In the present situation, it is not implausible that a police officer who is a white nationalist might conclude that a better way to start a race war would be to do something that would trigger a riot by black people. Should such person find his duties put him in a position to do just that, the opportunity could be seized.
