The Trump Department of "Justice" says the guy in Kenosha shot by a cop in the back...

"...Had a knife."

I have a knife with me almost all the time too.

One of these small Swiss Army types, has a knife, nail file, and scissors.

Does that mean I should be shot in the back?

Oops, forgot, I'm white. "Oh that's different!"

He had a wrench and screwdrivers in his car too most likely. That would have been the excuse had they not found a knife.

would have been enough to make the cop fear for his life. And, in the absence of any potential offensive weapons of handheld electronic devices, merely failing to comply would justify any shooting-by-cop.

My question is will the cops pay any price for allowing, and apparently encouraging, a 17 year old to carry a gun around after curfew?

in the guy's car who he just tried to murder? Rogue cops plant guns and knives on victims all the times.

And how could he possibly know the guy allegedly had a knife under his car mat while he pumped seven bullets into his back?

I'm not buying it.

... retain him physically.

That makes no sense seeing he was walking away from them, they had an oppertunity to tackle him and arrest him if he was a threat big enough to point a gun at him.

Such a bad senseless shooting

This was attempted murder.

This also becomes a Civil Rights case because I doubt seriously Jacob Blake was NOT read his Miranda Rights when grabbed then shot 7 times in the back. He was NOT handcuffed. He was shot nearly dead. Should he survive, Jacob Blake will present a totally different story that will cause Police Force to be reformed, not defunded. Reform is so badly needed.

I stand by my opinion when I stated this in a previous post..... "The problem is not funding, but HOW police are being trained and HOW they serve."

Able to stab someone behind him with his back turned?
When the person he would be assaulting is backed up by other officers with guns - some drawn?

The mention of a knife strikes me as an attempt to mute the outrage of what was done here.

An assisted opening jack knife & a Swiss Army knife.
And, they're not in my car! They're in my pocket!
This guy's knife was in the car.
They'll end up claiming it was in his hand, but he drooped it when shot.
That may or may not be true.
But, these excuse makers aren't going to have an easy time explaining why a knife was such a threat when Tue guy was facing away from the shooter!
How much of a threat could a guy be when he's facing the other way?
Is he the reincarnation of Bruce Lee?

... “that Blake guy told the cops he was going to get his gun out of the car and ‘kill all you Mutherfuckers’. That was why they shot him”.

I can’t find any reputable reporting of that, and I suspect we’d be hearing it from many sources if it were true. Sooner or later we’ll see body cam footage, and I’m looking forward to getting back to him then.

32. Kenosha cops don't have body cams

https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-nw-kenosha-police-body-cams-20200825-6c2w2tochnfwvfwqkmahbu3tsa-story.html

IOWA CITY, IOWA — City and law enforcement leaders in Kenosha, Wisconsin, unanimously endorsed the use of body cameras in 2017 as a way to increase police accountability and collect evidence at scenes of domestic violence, among other benefits.

But since then, they have balked at the price tag, raised policy concerns and put off implementation. The delays meant that officers who were on the scene of Sunday’s shooting of Jacob Blake while responding to a domestic call were not equipped with technology that could give their perspective on an incident that has roiled the nation.

Instead, the public has only seen video captured by a neighbor that shows one or more officers shooting Blake, 29, in the back several times as the Black man walked away from them, opened his SUV’s driver-side door and leaned into the vehicle. It doesn’t show what happened before or after the shooting like body camera footage would.

More at link, however, a huge problem with body cameras is that cops often "forget" to turn them on or they turn them off.
