(2,799 posts)my spouse commented on donnie walking down the WH stairs last night and how hard he was holding the railing, and - for the only time I know - actually gripping melanoma's hands (in a dont let me fall) manner.

(7,636 posts)I was cleaning my pool one afternoon with my 3 year old son. Looked away for a second when I heard a splash. I will never forget the look on his face. It was like, "Dad, what just happened?"
Luckily, I dove in and pulled him out. Nothing worse than wet clothes. (and DON'T TELL YOUR MOTHER!!!)

(33,643 posts)It's identical to what Trump said with the subject and verb changed.
Whenever you see "I like X who don't Y" ... that's the first thing one should guess is it's a play on Trump's words. Esp when the subject is 'Presidents'.

(82,383 posts)There is accommodation for disabilities everywhere. And only Trump would make fun of someone for it. That's the point - he is especially deplorable, not normal.
treestar
(82,383 posts)not disabled people.
This is like finding excuses to feel like a victim. Like hardly anyone other than Trumpists would make fun of the disabled. So we have to look for it from other people when that's not the point? What is so comforting about feeling victimized?

(27,329 posts)I think context can sometimes be a determinant.
I have had severe near-sightedness all my life, and my right one damaged from the less common retinal detachment (reattached) but complicated further by a big cataract since '08.
Less than normal hearing from birth, though I didn't even know that till the school nurse did the classroom check and I saw the letters next to my name were different! Uh, oh.
And temporary disabled through 2 major, 2 medium (same) ankle sprains.
Longer temporary crutches, wheelchair, quad cane because of tri-fractrured (the other) ankle ( w screws) over a few months.
So, yeah, had some inklings.

(9,989 posts)I am NOT comparing Dump to FDR. Hell naw. I'm just saying, a real leader would work to help build a world where people with disabilities don't have to hide anymore, where getting their needs met is no big deal and are able to rise to high positions if they have the drive and desire.
Hits harder after the loss of Chadwick Boseman, who kept his illness private for YEARS. I understand he might have wanted his privacy of course - but I have to wonder if he hid how sick he was because he thought he would be discriminated against if it was widely known. And he probably would have been right about that.
We already knew what Dump was made of during the first campaign where he mocked the disabled reporter. He's no leader at all. He's a cruel sociopath who torments others about their vulnerabilities and won't ever admit he has any of his own.
