General Discussion

I challenge DU to post what they did to help win the election.
Complaining and worry doesn't accomplish much. For example, you could post how many swing state letters you wrote for Swing Left or Vote Forward. You could post what you have done for Vote Save America? Did you give some money to Democratic candidates? Are you working for your county or state Democratic Party?
To be honest all I see are posts about polls. I saw plenty of that during the 2016 election. Isn't specific effective action more important?
I am so guilty of not being involved in past elections. This time, I am writing letters for Vote Forward each weekend and give to the Biden Campaign, Wisconsin Democrats, Powered by People, and 10 Democratic Senate Candidates each month. I plan to do more and would like to see what others are doing.
I have included a link to a video that has inspired me about what the Wisconsin Democrats have done and how they won the Supreme Court Race during the pandemic.

(7,498 posts)my second this week. Donating my stimulus check Including to Greenfield today. When I get a pessimist on line, I tell them how many very positive reactions I'm getting. They lift my spirits and I try to lift theirs.

(54,291 posts)The videos done by Freedom Toast and the Parody Project have been sent to several campaigns for Senate and the House, and are used to reach sympathetic audiences in their districts/states.
I have sent more checks this year than in any other to candidates for the Senate and House, plus maxed out to the Biden campaign and that of Mark Kelly. Other favorites have been Sarah Gideon (opposing Concerned Collins in Maine), Amy McGrath (opposing Moscow Mitch McTurtle in Kentucky), Jaime Harrison (opposing Leningrad Lindsey in South Carolina), Wendy Davis and Candace Valenzuela, both running for the House in Texas, Jon Osoff and John Hickenlooper, running for Senate in Georgia and Colorado, Jackie Gordon, running for the seat of Peter "We'll take care of the counting" King in New York, and a LOT of others. Also, collective orgs such as Emily's List and the Democratic Governors' Association. Plus, of course, Gabby's and Mark's gun control efforts. Piggy bank's getting kinda low, but if I don't have a country to come home to, it will be even worse.

(10,014 posts)Rob is watching closely what happens with the Greenfield campaign especially, although I didn't need any encouragement from him to do that. He isn't anywhere near decided on going for Chuckie's Senate seat yet in 2022, but I'm pushing him every chance I get.

(987 posts)called all registered Democrats and Independents in our precinct to make sure they have a voting plan.
We'll be calling again the 1st of October because our early voting location has changed.
I donate to my county party every month and have donated to Moe Davis running to replace Mark Meadows in NC 11, and Cal Cunningham running to replace Thom Tillis.
I've organized my precinct so that we will have greeters at the polls all during early voting (12 hour days), as well as on election day. We'll have a table with sample ballots, free hand sanitizer and free bottled water in case there are lines.
If anyone who reads this post wonders what they can do to help....Just call your local Democratic organization and ask them! Our county is trying to keep our headquarters office open every day. We need folks to help with voter registration drives. And if you are uncomfortable doing these things in the time of covid....we need folks to make phone calls.

Our county party is very well organized and will put all volunteers to meaningful work.

So, I've talked three younger neighbors into doing so and have promised I'd get them N95 masks from my own personal stock to wear. I will likewise try to find more N95s for the other poll workers--especially the older ones-- if any of my coworkers or clinics can spare any.
