General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region Forums"Protests" are objections to the way the government is functioning. If they only say what the
government approves of when and where the government permits, they are not protests; they are kabuki theater---the "peaceful protests" the government smiles upon.
True protests---at a minimum---trespass, block traffic, disturb the peace and intentionally piss off the PTB.
"We, the people" protest in our arenas; the streets and public spaces. Perhaps it is time for our Congressional leaders to protest in THEIR arenas: the House and Senate.
Shut them down. RAISE HELL. Chant. Sit in. Hold press conferences. MAKE DEMANDS, not requests. In general, grab the public's attention and insist---loudly---that Trumpism is immoral and, by God, WILL NOT STAND.
OR-------we can continue to agree that "someone should DO something" and hope for the best while Trump continues to defy our laws and smirks "Whatchoo gonna do about it?"
If we don't get off our asses soon----they will be handed to us.

(54,349 posts)I would have said "objections to what passes for our government is doing."
"Functioning" implies to me that a government is actually running. I see our current "government," if it can still be called that, as a disjointed group of corrupt individuals, looking to enrich themselves and accumulate power, and taking advantage of their temporary status to carry out those plans. I do NOT see them as a functioning government. Nor does any other NATO government trying to deal with them.

(13,180 posts)Voting is all that really matters. Protesting without voting is shameful.
Let's see what happens in the polls. If they go down, the protests need to be done more competently or stopped and GOTV efforts should replace them.

I am sure I will vote, because I am fortunate enough not to have to rely on Trump's USPS. But, whether or not it will be counted or mean anything---I don't know.
