(5,561 posts)It doesn't make sense to say "people are stupid." Intelligence is relative and requires a standard reference to assess degree of stupidity. If you say that people are stupid then the question becomes, "Stupid compared to what?" Dolphins? Chimpanzees? Vulcans?
What you could legitimately claim is that today's Americans are stupid compared to those of the past 244 years, but I don't think that's true either. I think our advanced communication technology and declining educational standards have enabled more powerful methods of manipulating public opinion, such as Fox News and Twitter. Trump simply stumbled upon and is exploiting these tools.
