Nowhere to Run - and Nothing to Run On

Thanks to Trump, there isn’t a traditional Republican talking point that hasn’t been eviscerated.

The party that Supports the Troops sat in silence as a draft-dodger denigrated war hero John McCain.

The party of Family Values cheered the kidnapping and caging of innocent children.

The party of Lincoln the Emancipator applauded their “pResident’s” overt racism.

The party that fights for the American people was afraid to criticize Trump because he might tweet mean things about them.

The party of good Christian principles declared a lying, blasphemous adulterer to be ‘chosen by God’.

The party of American patriotism said nothing when their leader sided with Putin instead of our own intelligence agencies, and continued to do Russia’s bidding.

The party of law and order remained mute as their leader repeatedly broke the law.

The party of good governance stood by and did nothing while their “pResident” put corrupt cronies in charge of agencies they then systematically destroyed.

The party of solid leadership looked the other way as Americans died due to their leader’s blatant incompetence in the midst of a pandemic.

The party of strong moral values defended their leader despite the dozens of allegations against him for sexual misconduct, assault, and rape.

The party of freedom and democracy enabled their “pResident” to destroy both.

Now, we all know that the GOP hasn’t been any of the aforementioned for decades – but at least they used to pretend otherwise. After four years of Trump, there is no wiggle-room left anywhere. They have been exposed as what they’ve been all along: an anti-American cult whose only interest is gaining political power and lining their own pockets with taxpayer dollars.

So one wonders what they have left to run on in future elections. Somehow I don’t think ”We’ve now shown you who we are, but vote for us anyway” is a winning campaign strategy.

I’ve said it before: I HATE what Trump has done to the country, but I LOVE what he’s done to the Republican party.

... but his party ought to - because after he's gone, the GOP will be left holding the bag full of shit he'll be leaving behind for them to clean up.

Our party is all the things we should be. The republicans are exactly like that despicable fraud they adore.
