SO GLAD that Joe Biden spelled out Trump's Social Security scheme in simple, direct words.

I've been working all day so didn't see any of his Pittsburgh remarks until Lawrence O'Donnell's show.

All people need to know is:

1). Trump wants to "terminate" the Payroll Tax.

2). If he does that, Social Security will be completely de-funded in three years. Then, no one will receive benefits, it will be the end of Social Security.

And while I'm not quoting him, that is essentially what he said, and then "Does that make you feel safer," touching back on his rebuttal of Trump stoking fear over "Joe Biden's America."

He basically eviscerated every Trump talking point.

If he sustains this message and keeps leaning into it, he'll flatten Trump. THIS is what we need. He doesn't need rhetoric, he doesn't need drama...simple, direct, assertive...and from what I've seen, that's certainly what he delivered today.

Save Social Security and the Post Office--you can't get more popular topics than that.

Trump is bound and determined to take that money from the people. He is only a President to Wall Street and big money. He’s trying to pull off what others have tried for years. Take it out of the governments hands and deliver it to Wall Street. We’ve seen how that goes when retirements are invested into the stock market. And it isn’t good.

And he needs to repeat it constantly, so it sticks. I don't even want to imagine the pain and suffering which would result in a US without SS. He and Putin really are trying to kill us. It is dire.

Sure, there are some people in their 60s and 70s who are in good health and could hold down a full time job, if they chose to do so. One of my clients is in his mid-70s. He went on a health kick a few decades ago...studied nutrition, lost weight, did a lot of work on himself. He could now easily leave a lot of people half his age in the dust. He owns a restaurant and also manages rental properties.

But that's not everyone. Some people choose to retire for a multitude of reasons. Another friend of mine told me earlier this evening that he has been paying into the system since he was 16, is still working on a job that he's held for decades, is 66 years old, and this job has taken its toll. He went on Social Security this year, but in January will leave it and look for a part time job to supplement his income. But he knows that if Trump gets a second term, there will be no income to supplement.

And his story is a MILD one in comparison to seniors who simply cannot work.

But it's the last missing piece in Paul Ryan's dream. He got his tax cuts, and the only regret that he expressed when slithering out of his job was that he didn't get his hands on SS, Medicare, and Medicaid.

They believe the spin that came out last week, that Trump would simply "forgive" the debt of the 3 month "tax holiday."

Only problem is that it's not what he said. His intentions were quite clear. And his intention is to kick the can past November 3rd.

I've not been on DU for a couple of days but I'll assume the story of the Trump campaign hiring the goon who orchestrated the John Kerry Swift Boat sliming was posted and discussed.

It won't stop there.

in three short years to all audiences. It might seem that the story only matters to the elderly but remember, Granny and Gramps have children and grandchildren that might not be too pleased to learn that their parents & grandparents will soon be destitute. Guess who will be having to pick up the slack or even take in their aging parents??

So this is not just an old people’s problem. The younger generation will suddenly be providing elder care and won’t be paying into their own social security any more either. Suddenly retirement for themselves may be iffy, too. Lots to think about.

Tell ‘em, Joe. Life in tRump’s America is going to be meaner and more difficult for everyone.

I'm sure it was posted here, but she said she planned to vote for Trump, was asked if he had done anything to make her life better, she said something like "I can't think of anything, he just makes me feel safe."

So I guess we'd find out how safe she felt without Social Security.

We can't take for granted the fact that Florida has a large population of seniors, and they're in his crosshairs. The seniors who praise Trump are either unaware of this, consider it to be fake news, or just don't believe that he'd do that to them.

If SSI goes sway, the country will plunge into a depression. SSI gets spent. Without this spending, loans will be defaulted on, stores will close. They'll be a mass of homeless geriatrics.

It's clear that he's been waiting for the moment to "get away with it," and telegraphing his punch BEFORE the election wasn't a smart move, but arrogance leads one to believe they can get away with anything, and that's where we're at.

on this!

A "perfect storm" of events years back cost me my ability to work. All I have is now SS (retired), Medicare, Medicaid, FS etc I don't think I could work f/t. It would be a struggle to try part time. A year before say early 2022 I'd feel the emotions of like a deer-caught-in-the-headlights (terror, despondency) of trying find p/t which would make it even harder esp at 69 yrs then.

Which why I can only speak on it elsewhere at times lest those kind of emotions overtake me now and interfere with the things I need to, and want to do - both serious and serious fun. Including GOTV.

Hopefully Joe and Kamala will win(!!!!!!) and this will be a moot point!

Then we'll have to get on raising the SS cap on income earnings in say two steps keep it better finances!
