A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.


It's a single sentence with clauses that have no clear connection to each other. It reminds me of the child's riddle that concludes that it takes a certain number of pancakes to cover a doghouse because ice cream doesn't have bones.
