First I will state I am a liberal Democrat. Second, we need to ask Obama hard questions as to why he does what he does. If we had a Republican who continued wars the previous administration started we would raise cain. If a Republican took away some of our rights, we raise hell. If a Republican used drones to kill Americans overseas we scream why. If financial treaties such as the Pacific ream agreement was being done behind closed doors, we have marches to the White House. If a Republican allowed the CIA to work with local law enforcement to brutalize the Occupy movement we support the ACLU. If a republican allowed disasters such as Wall Street or the Gulf oil we would rally the troops to want punishment. If a Republican would not enforce rules set by the EPA people would rally and Democrats would stand with them, coal mining in West Virginia.
I want to know do we only want to win the election or have we forgot that we are the little guys protector? Where are we Democrats?

(34,179 posts)There are lots of liberals, including myself, who question Obama's actions every day. Liberals who write and email him with these questions.
The fact is, a lot of liberals, while not liking Obama or what he has done, are stuck in the position of having to vote for the lesser of two evils. Of course that has been the case for decades now, and it is a major reason why our society is in the position it's in now.

(39,665 posts)Seriously, what does that mind of yours tell you when troll after troll you agree with -- you know, rethugs pretending to be criticize Democrats from the left -- get the granite pizzas?
What are we to think? I mean, *I* know you're sincere. But does it ever make you scratch your head that you sound just like them?

(34,179 posts)That you come across as authoritarian and rigidly doctrinaire as the most rigid of freepers?
Seriously you keep tiptoeing up to that line of calling me a troll, or worse. At least have the courage of your convictions and say what you think, plainly and concisely rather than continuing this coward's dance.

(1,486 posts)You maybe right. I don't really have a grasp on evil.
Didn't mean to pull your tail Hound, just thought people might want to consider an alternative to negativity all the time.
I have definitely wanted more from this administration and am sorry things have not gone exactly as I wished/hoped.

But thanks for your concern.

(4,404 posts)But we are right up against an election here. Even if you disagree with a lot of what the president has done, it would be nothing compared to what a President Romney would do.
First we need to get Obama reelected, assuming you want that (your call). Then we can focus on the parts of his policy we disagree with.
In my opinion anyway.

(234 posts)and that's an understatement, he's 100x more electable than Kerry or Gore and I liked them both. I too am a liberal democrat, and though I was somewhat disappointed with the first term, he delivered on many of his promises (despite what the right says). He will have the latitude to lean considerably more liberal knowing he doesn't have to worry about being re-elected. If he'd been as liberal as we'd all like during his first term, I doubt the race would be where it is now even with Mittens the Clown running.

(10,942 posts)A Calderon of opinion and half truths masked as policy questions. The simple answer is that a republican will be fucking worse on every claim made. Who the fuck started two wars and who want the USA to get involved in two more wars? Obama lived up to his promise to get out of Iraq and is winding down the war in Afghanistan, those are facts. Unfortunately wars can't just be dropped cold as many liberal want, that is fucking suicidal. I have no concerns with killing terrorists leaders with drones, none at all, I will double up to say that I want more efficient drones for killing their asses, drones that target an individual and eliminate collateral damage. Your claim about the CIA acting locally sounds like paranoid bullshit, I seriously doubt that you have one ounce of facts to prove it.

(18,530 posts)There are others, but they are statistically so unlikely to win that they are not worth discussing at this time, though their messages may be better; I'm not judging that. Of the two likely future-Presidents, which is the best choice? The differences are very clear and this should not be difficult for anyone. If you vote against one, you are basically voting for the other. So, if you do not agree with all of President Obama's positions, do you prefer Romney's? If not, you need to hold your nose and vote for President Obama anyway or you are voting for Romney. We aren't voting for Romney.

Republicans did destroy the economy. In fact, Republicans did all those things. They're the friggin reason the country is screwed up.
That last one is a gem given that Republicans are trying to kill the EPA.

(45,168 posts)I am a very liberal Democrat and right now there is one thing and one thing only that stands between me and complete and utter bat shit crazy and very bad things that would happen if Mitt and his ilk gain power, and that one thing that stands between me and that, is Barack Obama. Now after he gets reelected I will raise hell but right now, all that matters is him being reelected.

(92,777 posts)less than 2 months left until election, it doesn't serve much purpose unless we can get him re-elected along with a Democratic Congress
If that doesn't not happen, as troubling as those issues are, it would be 100 times worse if the republicans won.
Not only would Medicare and Social Security be dismantled, our involvement in new wars would be almost a certainty, and right of labor, women, and civil rights in general would be thrown back decades.
No things could get a lot worse. Let's get in first, and give him a Democratic Congress so there is no excuse

Can you imagine what would have happened if the black Obama would have instigated charges against the white former administration for what the racist in this country see as them saving us from the Muslims when in reality they started two illegal and unnecessary wars that have cost us dearly. I could go on but surely you can see why Obama has done what he's done and why he hasn't done what he hasn't done.

(20,600 posts)I have said it many times, Obama is a big disappointment, speaking as a liberal Democrat. I have never changed my position regarding this. Why others don't question him, well, some are sheepish, some think it is not their place to question their "betters", and so on. Some are zealous in being a Democratic party member and consider any questioning a form of disloyalty. There are many reasons why people wouldn't question a president.
