Kenosha mayor: Too soon for Biden and Trump to be visiting

Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian tells CNN's Pamela Brown that it is "too soon" for President Trump or Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to be visiting the city.

I'm gratified to see that Biden respects the wishes of the Mayor and community and won't be pressured by pundits or others on the internets into what would clearly simply a political stunt, counter to the wishes of those who know best what it will take to heal their city.

Cooler heads are prevailing in the campaign.

4. There is much handwringing and "concern" about him not just going there for a "healing"

6. Trump is playing to the same folks who won him Wisconsin in 2016.

He's likely not playing specifically to the city of Kenosha but the county. He barely won the county over Hillary four years ago, despite Obama carrying it by 12 points in 2012.

Kenosha is the largest city in the county, which Hillary actually carried, but the suburbs and rural area went Trump.

The fact is, if he's going to win Wisconsin again, it'll happen in these counties.

He's playing to suburban Kenosha, which is significantly more white than Kenosha city. It remains to be seen if it'll work but I don't think it's automatically bad from the political side just because the mayor is saying stay out - not if it has its intended consequences of reinforcing an image that got him victory there four years ago.

to let a little time pass. Cooler heads, more open minds, and the ability to address many issues.

9. If he does, he will likely not talk about it, and let the family speak about it if they wish. (nt)
