When asked if he'll tweet as President, Biden tells @KDKA's @JonDelano: "I am not a tweeter. I'm going to speak to the American people directly. I'm not engaged in trying to foment hatred and division. It's about uniting the country."

(1,568 posts)... for formal statements from the WH and coordinated messaging and PR. I dont like that Keighleigh or whatever her name is, but I do appreciate the reinstatement of press conferences and her lies being so beautifully organized in her binder.
And she dresses well. Im shallow. 🤷🏻?♀️
But wont it be nice to have a normal set of communication channels again?

AOC has shown how to use it. You must snap back quickly to lies, and not let them fester and grow with silence. I do not use Twitter, but I'm not a modern day politician. Do you think Trump will stop for one day if he is defeated in November? Or Putin's trolls?
I'm not saying Biden should abuse Twitter as Donald does. But used sparingly it is pertinent to any modern day politician, and a well placed, quick, response on social media's biggest megaphone, is a very important tool you don't dismiss so quickly.
I'm not happy about that, but them's the facts.

(7,341 posts)I was hoping Biden would make a pledge like this. Using Twitter all the time not only shows how simple-minded he is, but shows a total lack of respect to the office of the president.

(15,565 posts)A president tweeting is just one more lowered bar in our country - one we don't need. I like Presidents who set high standards for our country and it's citizens instead of dumbing everything down to a trump supporter's level.
I wish he would have added something like "I'll be too busy actually doing the work of a President to be wasting any time tweeting." We all know that trumpie hasn't done a lick of work since Day One.

(7,539 posts)I have absolutely no problem with the official POTUS twitter account posting occasional statements and information, but the information should be carefully planned, vetted and posted by people whose job it is to communicate for the president on their behalf, not random tweeting at the drop of a thought.
President is an important enough job that the office *should* have a skilled PR/communications team to handle this for them.
