I really am asking for a friend, who was just diagnosed. What she is telling me that her doctors are telling her does not match up with the admittedly limited information I could find, particularly with reference to contagion risks and modes of transmission.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Seems to be a rare form of bacterial meningitis that should respond to antibiotics.
It appears to be a common bacteria living on our skin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micrococcus_luteus
I am not seeing anything about contagious as it is an opportunistic pathogen in that it usually strikes someone whose immune system is compromised as seen in this quote from the paper referenced above;
Anyways, I hope your friend gets better soon.

directed to lay people. My friend is severely immunocompromised, but has excellent medical care.
Thank you so much for your help.

(5,640 posts)If there are any terms you don't know in the paper I cited, just highlight the term and right click on it then click on "Search yoursearchengine for the "highlighted term"
That will usually bring up one or two hits that have a definition. I'm sure others will respond as well once they get off work later.
