(145,107 posts)I was in the voter protection war room and an election judge called me and asked if trying to vote twice was against the law. A trump supporter insisted that he had the right to vote twice. We had a room full of lawyers and fed the election judge with the provision of the Texas Election Code that made it a crime to vote twice. This idiot was arrested and this arrest made the Washington Post https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/12/01/0-000002-percent-of-all-the-ballots-cast-in-the-2016-election-were-fraudulent/
BTW, his second vote was not registered. The mere attempt to vote twice was a crime

(182,750 posts)There were a couple of them caught testing the system last time. Meanwhile Trump voted by mail and illegally- Mar a lago cant be a residence.

(15,933 posts)they would have to surrender their mail in ballot. If they don't turn in their ballot then no voting in person. If they do produce and surrender their ballot (it will become spoiled at that time) then they can vote in person.
This is the LAW in Texas.
Hopefully only trump voters are this stupid. But if the AG of the US doesn't know this then he should resign.

(145,107 posts)This is the one time that I counsel voters that it is okay to caste a provisional ballots. Such provisional ballot will be effective so long as the mail in ballot does not show up at the time of certification of vote
MagickMuffin
(15,933 posts)However, provisional ballots can be an iffy situation.
I will not be working the election this year. And the very first time I will vote early since we can now print out our ballots, whether early or GE.
I always voted on GE day, mostly because early voting meant electronically and no paper trail.

(145,107 posts)I have no trouble telling voters to cast a provisional ballot if they know that they have not mailed in their absentee ballot. In my county, if the voter turns in their absentee ballot, the election office will cancel that ballot and let the voter vote a regular ballot.

(54,770 posts)would not be counted twice. Now, if someone votes in Idaho and then Ohio, that would definitely be a crime.
Id vote against trump and other GOPers simply because they are racist and heartless, all the rest is just added reason. But, dont think trump is really suggesting voting twice, although he damn sure sounded stupid in his comments. Sounds like he was trying to mock people who dont have faith in mail.

(145,107 posts)We had a GOP precinct chair and candidate for commissioners court pull this off. Since the District Attorney at the time was a republican, this crime was not prosecuted IOKYIFYAR https://juanitajean.com/true-the-vote-can-kiss-my-big-blue-butt/
So Ole Bruce is a dandy Republican who loves God and hates government.
Recognizing that rights come from God, not government, and that it should be a servant, not a master, are foundational principles under attack today.
Let me tell you about Bruces foundational principles.
In 2006, 2008, and 2010, Bruce voted in person in Fort Bend County and by mail in Pennsylvania in the same general elections. According to his financial disclosure forms, Bruce Fleming also owns a house in Pennsylvania. (He homesteaded a house in Texas and a house in Pennsylvania, but that illegality is a whole nother story.) Bruce felt that owning houses in both states gave him the right to vote in the same elections in both states. Thats a third degree felony in Texas
This asshole lost the race for commissioner's court

(63,221 posts)I hate him with a passion. He is such an arrogant motherf***er! Where do losers like this get off assuming such confidence? I know he is a child of privilege, but he is not nearly as intelligent or as clever as he thinks he is.

(3,741 posts)Somehow, I conjure an imagine of barr, with a cloth napkin tucked under his fleshy chin, with a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs laid out before him. Hes always gorging himself, especially when the food is free. Dipping ripped pieces of crusty Italian bread into the red sauce and stuffing it into his freakishly large, bull frog mouth. PIG. He can't see himself. Even if he could, he would just shrug, laugh and stuff in another piece of warm bread into that gaping lie spigot.
