You know how Trump has suggested that his supporters vote twice?

If you missed it – he said last night: “Let them send it in and let them go vote and if the system is as good as they say it is then obviously they won’t be able to vote” (in person). This was then backed up by lacky Barr saying he was not aware of voting twice being illegal... They are just in your face authoritarian democracy stealers without a hint of shame. But, hey, if they want to urge their base to commit a felony on behalf of their desperate clinging on to a power, when they know the gig is up without an outrageous level of cheating, I think we should encourage it. After all we know that the systems are set up to catch anyone trying to commit this felony and ergo one must assume that if they try this nonsense neither of their votes will count, the integrity of the system will be upheld and a bunch of unhinged morons will end up behind bars. Win, win, win. Heh.

that Trumpers were to obey him. I challenged their loyalty to Trump. I told them to do what he ordered, vote by mail and vote in person. You can be heroes proving how corrupt mail in voting is, Do it.

I left out the part of it being a felony and I think a $5,000.00 fine.

Late mail in ballots could tip the balance - mail on election day!

Vote in person too - on special Trump Wednesday the day after election day!

Anyone whose mailed-in vote is already counted will be turned away on November 3rd. They won't be given a chance to vote a 2nd time. However it will create mass chaos at the polls on election day, maybe that would be Chump's real reason for telling people to do this.

By simply mailing in our votes and avoiding the polls on election day, we'd be diminishing the chaos. I plan to use my mail-in ballot and personally hand it to the County Election Board officials, that way I don't have to depend on the "good will" of the US Postal Service.

This will muddy the waters and help make the election looked rigged (probably use China as the fall guy). In the days after the election they will file a multitude of legal challenges in the state they are losing. In Bush vs. Gore the court said vote counting had to end on December 14th, in order for the electoral college to hold their vote. So, if that date holds, the states and courts will have about 40 days to figure everything out. So we have about 60 days before the election, and 40 days after, until we determine the president. These next 100 days should be quite memorable.

This may be a dumb question, but do the poll workers have the ability to flag people who voted by mail and then show up on election day to vote again? Is it a crime to TRY to vote twice rather than showing up and being turned away?

Antiquated as it is.

You would have to take the master dbase of all voters and match it against a dbase of all mail in voters and compare it. Constantly during early voting and election. Doubt they do it.

strikes me that a person could just say that the president told them to? Pretty good defense?

Let's just say a state finds that a person votes by mail and in person. Do you throw both votes out? Or which one survives.

I suspect each state is different? It creates more chaos. Exactly what IQ wants.

Every county BOE has a data base of all registered voters. If someone requests and is sent an absentee ballot, they are flagged in the appropriate poll book and must vote provisionally. The check to see if they already voted is done during the counting.
Ohio now uses electronic poll books, but it was fairly simple even in the paper book days. The poll books are printed just before election day and there is a supplemental sheet sent out before the polls open, so each precinct knows who has already voted.

If two votes come in for the same person...say absentee and provisional...rhe first dated one is counted. It takes time to go thru things which is why official count isn't certified until weeks after election day.

Also those who have voted in person early. This is in the poll book when people check in. Those people have to vote provisionally and if it is found that there is a previous vote cast, the provisional ballot is tossed. Yes, it is illegal and they can be prosecuted (but don't know how often such cases are followed up)

19. Here is how it works
Thu Sep 3, 2020, 09:16 AM
Sep 2020

Here's what happens in New York:

You are sent a mail in or absentee ballot (maybe you use it, maybe you don't)
In the poll book that election inspectors use on election day, you are marked VOTING ABSENTEE
you can STILL go in and vote in person, in which case you sign the poll book, are given your ballot, which is accounted for (not your VOTE, just the number of the ballot) Election Inspectors/Poll workers have 2-3 methods by which they MUST account for every ballot that leaves their hands, whether it goes into the machine, gets spoiled, or is used for an affidavit vote or emergency vote.
THEN, at the Board of Elections, if you had also returned your absentee/mail ballot, that would be checked against the poll records as they do the count -- if you had come in to vote in person, you've already voted and your "extra" vote is not counted.

Is there a fine? If not, the states might want to consider putting in place some consequences for people trying to corrupt the vote. I'm glad to hear there are mechanisms in place to catch it but people doing it will slow things down and create confusion ... which of course is what Trump wants.

However if you never received your ballot, or it never arrived, in most states you can cast a provisional ballot which will be used only if your mail-in ballot never shows up in the system.

... tracking their ballots and going to their polling places in person if they believe (whether correctly or mistakenly) that their mail in ballot was not counted. It's not illegal to submit a provisional ballot or to show up at the polling place to see if you're already checked off.

I sometimes have difficulty remembering if I got my flu shot. I can imagine wondering if I really did send in that mail in ballot.

It's OK to go to the polling place to be sure you're counted.

As Mayor Daley of Chicago used to say, "vote early and often". I have to say the moment I heard what the president had said I thought the same thing, great, their vote doesn't count and they go to jail for a felony. Cynically I thought Republicans playing politics with Public Health benefited Democrats too, except that affects the innocent also
