This impeached p*resident running on law n order is the most ruthless, corrupt n dangerous person ever seeking a second term. If we survive his term n all our traditions n norms aren’t shredded, the next president has a lot of cleaning up to do. We have to fight this good fight n vote him away. Then, let the courts have at him.

...heck, to overthrow every populist economic and regulatory measure enacted since the late 19th century.

They want the Gilded Age back. And they spent decades pushing hot buttons to get people white-hot mad about single-issues or small clusters of issues so that the people who had their buttons pushed would prioritize those things when voting. And conservative politicians would pay lip service to those issues while working to tear down every measure under government control that pushes against wealthy people using that wealth as leverage to run roughshod over anybody who gets in their way.

They turned the Party of Lincoln into the Party of Salome. Salome is the base, and she grew increasingly pissed that the establishment Herods weren't bringing her the heads she'd asked for.

They turned the Party of Abe into the Party of Ahab. Ahab is the base, who if their chests were cannons they'd shoot their hearts out like cannonballs to trigger the libs.

Trump is the guy who promised them all-you-can-eat White Whale steak dinners for life (and the hagfish will pay for it). And blames the Deep State for the dearth of heads.

They could catch him in the act of forcibly sodimizing their children, and they'd still happily vote for him.

No tragedy so trifling as a grotesquely mismanaged pandemic could sway them from their worship.

Today I saw a house that looked to have been built from shipping palettes and tarpaper, and it had a big new MAGA flag on a pole in the front yard. I did a job in a trailer court two weeks ago where 9 out of 10 lots had Trump signs.

They are a cult of idiot racist fuckheads. As long as the fuckhead in chief makes them feel good about their idiocy, their racism, and their fuckheadedness, they'll happily snuffle at his taint until they die. He confirms their delusions of persecution, and they adore him for it.

As always, my lurking readers from the various online KKKonservative cesspits can go fuck themselves individually and collectively.

It's because the Republican Party has, for years, been cornering the market on low information voters with authoritarian personalities, who stick to their TRIBE and follow their TRIBAL LEADERS. Just like Saddam Hussein and his Tikrit clan, the people Donald Rumsfeld called 'dead enders.' They have no ideology, no morality, no paradigms for how government should work. They don't CARE how government works, as long as THEIR GUY is in charge of it.

For the last three decades Republicans have CLAIMED to care about free trade, small government, obeying the Constitution. And we all suspected they were hypocrites. But Trump's election has PROVEN it beyond any doubt.

IT LITERALLY DOESN'T MATTER what he does or doesn't do. They literally don't CARE if Russia meddles in an American election, as long as they help THEIR guy win. They literally don't CARE that he breaks the law, as long as he's THEIR tribal leader breaking it. He's the leader of their TRIBE, and they'll support him no matter what. Generally, the Republican 'tribe' is middle class, white, rural voters. In 1980 their tribal leader (Reagan) said "Russia is bad, and free trade is good." And they followed him. Then in 2020 their tribal leader (Trump) said the opposite. "Russia is good, and free trade is bad." And again, they followed their leader.

The fact that the GOP didn't even publish a platform this time around is further proof of this. They just said "we're for whatever our DEAR LEADER is for."

Democrats, on the other hand, are the exact opposite. They have so many policy ideas that they can't agree on anything, and sometimes have trouble supporting any single candidate. I'm hoping that will change a little this time around.
