WELP that's it, y'all, I am calling it a day because this is the best thing I've read on the internet this week. Nothing can top it.

Its 2:45 am and the retired Marine who lives behind me just took his Trump sign down, walked it to the street and threw it in the garbage.

(1,999 posts)Putie-daddy/the RNC will offer him a face-saving exit with some sort of medical excuse (though that won't sit well with "the healthiest person ever elected to the presidency" or whatever it is he deems himself...)
I suppose the doubly ego-saving excuse could maintain his pretense of perfect health by "resigning to care for an ill family member". But not even his most deluded slavering trumpettes would believe that one. His Apricoti-ness tending to the ill?
Not even if it was his darling princess Ivanka.

(21,922 posts)We've been staying at our mountain house in NE Pennsylvania since the beginning of the Covid crisis. It's a very rural area with many farms both large and small. Some of them are corporate farms while others are family-owned and operated. Most of them still have Trump signs along the roadside.
It's just anecdotal, of course, but we sometimes feel like we're in alien territory! I'd love to see some of those signs come down although I don't think they would vote Democratic.

The few people of color who support him are a fringe group of deranged fans who want to join his lethal reality show.

This was also based on his not expecting to win last time. The only incentive to win is to stay out of prison, but he has gotten away with everything his whole life and he's overconfident--and stupid.

(7,220 posts)I live in a rural and very RED part of Oregon, about 50 miles from Portland. Every election season, rural highways and houses are blanketed with Republican candidate signs and proposition ads from right-wingers. (These start to disappear as one drives closer to the city.) in 2016 there were a disturbing number of Trump signs. So much so that putting a Clinton sign in my yard was a sure way to get vandalized, sometimes even have your sign riddled with bullet holes (rural yokels sure LOVE their gunz!).
This year is a completely different story. There's one house with laughably huge Trump sign that covers their entire fence--but that's it. Maybe a lot of these country bumpkins will be voting for him anyway, but they sure aren't loud and proud like they used to be.
For what it's worth.

(8,584 posts)Will still lick his anus. He actually is a loser. Disgraces the military service of active Members and veterans every day. And Lindsey Grahams mug at the N.C. KKKlan event in the audience, grinning ear to ear. He is fine with McCains sickening take down. Fully exposed the morals of the piece of shit. With friends like him.........McCain was more respected by his torturing captives. Not all vets are created equal on the patriotism scale.

It's a purple town in Texas. Some complained about the noise on social media and now there's a social media battle of nastiness over the issue.
But that was before the article in the Atlantic. We'll see what happens over the next few days and weeks.

(10,885 posts)nasty comments, it's that the news broke when it did.
He will be damaged by this situation, no way around it. If this had happened five or six weeks later with early and mail-in voting underway, many voters could have already cast ballots that they would come to regret. Timing was with us.
