Some person

A male, has been calling my phone via a private number. He leaves awful anti gblt messages on my phone. I do not recognize his voice. I have no clue who this harassing asshole is. Apparently this piece of shit knows I am transgender..

He complains about the damn queers and other stupid bigoted shit.

This has been ongoing for a couple of weeks.

I have my phone set so I can only get calls from people on my contact list.
How he breaks through my phone filter/ rules I don't know.

He calls at night sometimes very late and I never answer.

I always delete his shit off my answer machine before it gets past 4 words.
What should I do about this dickweed?

Keep on ignoring him?

1. Keep a date/time log of the calls.

That will make it easier to identify the number. Talk to your phone provider about how the caller is getting through.

2. I think phone companies might have a way to trace such harassing calls.

Such harassment is a form of stalking. I am pretty sure it's against the law.

7. Don't worry I don't have a schedule

The only schedule I have is when to eat, cause of diabeties.

When I go out to do errands it's at all different times. So he won't be able to predict when I am out or how long.

I have a huge deadbolt on my door. Might get one of those alarm stick things.
Only one way to get into my place and I keep the door locked even while I am home.

I will start keeping a log.

Thanks

6. Save his messages

and call the cops and your phone service provider, for starters.

This person might be dangerous and not simply a harasser. And you may not be the only person he is doing this to.

Please don't let this slide. Don't let him get away with this.

and still be terrorizing you. This is a sickness, an evil sickness, and he could be otherwise a great person. He's got to be stopped--he's already hurting you. Every time he gets away with one of these disgusting phone calls, he is emboldened to make another. Eventually he may feel he can get away with physical assault.

I guess you can't do a re-dial because of the private number. I don't see anything you can do but ignore him,.. except talk to those who have your number, and see if anyone passed it along. He got it from somewhere.

You are not alone with these kinds of threatening phone calls. Report this event.

15. This is a crime

Don't know where you live, but in California what you've described is a crime. Penal Code 653m reads:

“(a) Every person who, with intent to annoy, telephones or makes contact by means of an electronic communication device with another and addresses to or about the other person any obscene language or addresses to the other person any threat to inflict injury to the person or property of the person addressed or any member of his or her family, is guilty of a misdemeanor. Nothing in this subdivision shall apply to telephone calls or electronic contacts made in good faith. (b) Every person who, with intent to annoy or harass, makes repeated telephone calls or makes repeated contact by means of an electronic communication device, or makes any combination of calls or contact, to another person is, whether or not conversation ensues from making the telephone call or contact by means of an electronic communication device, guilty of a misdemeanor. Nothing in this subdivision shall apply to telephone calls or electronic contacts made in good faith or during the ordinary course and scope of business."

Your state probably has something similar. Call your phone company and your local PD.

I would re-record my answering message to say something to the effect, “Thank you for your call, please know all calls and messages are now being recorded in accordance with advice from my lawyer and the police. Also, please know the cops are taking special interest in my case. I will pursue every avenue available to me, to keep me safe.”

Bet they do not call again, or maybe they at least think twice. And you should take legal action.

Best of luck to you. Please keep us updated.
