Ari Melber ran a good segment tonight about videoing the police.

If we win the White House and the Senate in November and hold on to the House, there are a lot of legislative fixes to the abuses of the executive branch and the police that need to be worked on beginning on Jan. 21. One of those is to pass effective federal legislation protecting the right of citizens to video the police. Ari Melber said there are ten states that have passed laws prohibiting or limiting that, so we need legislation to protect that right nationwide.

The historical and cultural depth of the segment is a bit astonishing given it's only 18 minutes long, with an unusual level of thoughtfulness in the way it's put together and presented. There is so much to keep track of and read these days that I sometimes hesitate to start watching a news video longer than 10 minutes or so, as they often tend to wander or be repetitive.

Not in this case. I'm very glad I clicked play; it was well worth the time.
