(33,643 posts)Not really a word (in full form) dude's should cavalierly throw around.
If a lady wants to use that word, I'm good with that.
Sometimes I'm kind of fan of it, come to think of it ...

(51,308 posts)It just became so obvious after the tangeranus used it, that so many here suddenly started throwing it around.
Anyway it appears Kelly has done no such thing, even metaphorically. No clue what the OP was talking about.

John Kelly, at Center of Report on Trump Disparaging U.S. Soldiers, Keeps Silent
The former chief of staffs public reticence has frustrated groups that are hoping that he will publicly endorse Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic presidential nominee.

(1,652 posts)was the source. And Kellys not denying anything. He has a motive, Trumps purported imbecilic comments at Kellys sons grave.

(7,849 posts)he signed on as chief of staff...the orange dung heap denigrated Kellys sonsservice and sacrifice and Kelly face plants .. oooh you showed him! ..nothing says honoring your son who lost his life fighting for his country like working for the bastard that hates the military

(5,499 posts)Remember, John Kelly lives in a world far more complicated than we do. It's often very ambiguous. It moves quickly. And the stakes are very high. We are talking about the safety of the nation.
I think he signed on to ensure that someone who understood the big picture and what was at stake had a seat at the table.
As far as Trump's comments: Kelly has been trained his entire career not to act emotionally. No matter what. Most people can't understand this because they have a low emotional intelligence (that allows for a reaction when there is a real or perceived slight) but for John Kelly, Trump's comment was information. Damning information. That--along with other information--brought Kelly to the conclusion that he needed to do something bigger for the country. So he managed to get himself appointed C of S.
What Kelly found out is that Trump was probably far worse than he ever expected. He lasted as long as anyone could and then had to move on.
If Kelly is the source for the article, he stayed anonymous because (I'm guessing here) he know Trump would know it was him. And it would drive Trump crazy.
For the insiders, confronting Trump head on has not proved to be successful. But these types of attacks seem to do more damage to Trump. In this instance, he came out swinging against John Kelly making it seem as if Trump knows the story is true. And Kelly sits silently letting Trump sping himself into the ground with rage.
Will Kelly endorse Biden publicly? I think it depends on where this story goes. If it gains traction and gets bigger, I think he might. If it disappears or gets replaced by something even bigger, I think he stays quiet.
Again this is my morning speculation. I could be completely wrong.

snip-"
When asked in an interview broadcast on Monday about plans by a Virginia church to remove plaques honoring George Washington and Robert E. Lee, he said it
showed a lack of appreciation of history.
snip-"Robert E. Lee was an honorable man, he added. He said that in the Civil War men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had them make their stand.
With those remarks, Mr. Kelly revealed that its he, like the president, who lacks an appreciation of history that he has chosen instead to embrace the mythology that white racists methodically created to hide the truth about the causes and course of the Civil War. The truth is, white Southerners went to war to destroy the United States in order to continue enslaving nearly 40 percent of the people in the region.
As for Lees honor, while some historians argue that he held a distaste for human bondage, he nevertheless fought ferociously to preserve slavery, which he viewed as the best arrangement that could possibly exist between whites and African-Americans. During the war, his army kidnapped free blacks, returning them to chains. After the war ended, he advised acquaintances to avoid hiring free blacks arguing that it was against white interests to do so and suggested that free black people be forced out of his native state, Virginia."

(7,849 posts)a pig but he liked the racist/ethnic crap Trump was spewing...will Kelly come forward?...he should, if for no other reason then to remake himself into what he supposedly was pre-chief of staff...a "distinguished" general...right now he looks more like a punching bag...I can't stand the guy but he is the grieving parent of a fallen hero..I hope Kelly is Jeffrey Goldberg's source and if he is, he owes it to his son to come forward and take Trump down...

(3,501 posts)so 'the p word' from now on. And I really thought Kelly would be the obvious choice. His name was certainly on the short-list of possible candidates for the 'Anonymous' Op Ed piece. And it's certainly imaginable that a disparaging remark, right in front of his son's grave, would churn in his guts for a long while.
At any rate, I'll drink a toast to whomever!

(32,974 posts)Gendered slurs, esp the ones that are commonly used to describe female anatomy are going to be called out.
I'm also betting you did not sign the letter of support for trump since you are here.

(26,076 posts)It is a gendered slur, or used against women in a degrading, sexual way -- exactly liked you used it. If you actually mean what you say, you would have edited it. And, saying "pword" isn't any better -- would it be better if you used "nword" to describe a person of color? No.
And, if people want to use it in a relationship among themselves, that is a-ok. But, we aren't in an intimate relationship, are we?
