"Open carry" laws annoy the piss out of me.

And now the brown shirts are doing it to intimidate protestors.

For another, how is anybody going to know if somebody who is carrying a weapon openly is a responsible person or a whack job that could start shooting everybody for no reason?

Exactly! People who open carry are just cowards who are advertising their insecurity on their sleeves. I am so glad I live in a state with very strict gun regulations. I have never seen anyone walking around in public with a visible weapon and I want it to stay that way.

What is wrong with people who think they need to be armed to go about their daily tasks in life? How haunted and paranoid must they be. It is a sickness. There is something not quite right in the head with these people and they should be the last ones to carry loaded weapons in public. Sane, normal people feel no need to walk around with a firearm attached to their person.

I don't know if it's true or just his machismo showing through, but the thought of him armed is not comforting. Seeing people armed in the public sphere isn't comforting, either. The gun worship in this country is insane.

Then Fox and right wing hate sites and social media platforms. It is easier to spread misinformation and fear now than it ever has been. At the same time the right has been building a media machine they've been defunding public education. So we have a population who doesn't see the contradiction in calling a tax funded health care system socialism, but bailouts for big corporations good business. When we get rid of Trump we still have the people who voted for him to deal with.

7. It's being NORMALIZED

Here in California people may have concealed carry permits, but open carry is not legal. I’m seeing more and more people in California with printing (outline) of handguns under their clothes . I’ve even called the SFPD while 2 roofers working on neighbors home had a holsters with a pistol visible (against California law). I was told that they would not send out officers as resources are limited. I mean if California is not taking gun control seriously anymore, we are fucked.
