(22,338 posts)The same type of person who thinks wearing a cotton face mask is an infringement on their liberty.

(15,803 posts)Im sorry for the losses of property etc. Really, there are so many more ways of revealing gender that do not involve pyrotechnics.
These types of parties werent a thing when I was having babies two decades ago. Theyre quite a fun thing really but again, pyrotechnics not needed!

(40,183 posts)I recall a couple of years ago a device was set off at a gender reveal party that hit the grandmother in the head and killed her.
Dangerous and stupid.

(14,886 posts)You want everyone to pay attention to you because you were raw-dogging a few months ago AND you prioritize ultrasound appearances of fetus genitalia and/or fetus genotypes? GTFOH with that.

(51,563 posts)shit until now. Glad I didn't! They sound like people I do not want to know. I wonder if they will have parties in 18 years celebrating how they just paid someone to take their kid's college entry exams? They seem like the type.

(126 posts)It was 104 degrees today where I live (Sunnyvale, in Silicon Valley) and I had to keep all my windows closed because of smoke from the SCU Lightning Complex fire. But that was sparked by lightning, so at least there's no stupidity involved. This is at least the second fire from a gender reveal party that I can recall. The first was in Arizona - another state with crazy high temps and lots of dry brush. The guy who started it was ordered to pay over $8 million in restitution - all for the sake of a Twitter or YouTube or Facebook video.

(21,526 posts)How could anyone be this stupid when officials are screaming again and again and again to not so much as light a match in these areas?
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?????
State needs to ban any pyrotechnics device. Most normal people just pop a balloon full of glitter or something.
I just.... I mean.... there are hundreds of ways to do this so WHY would you choose pyrotechnics????

(2,636 posts)In a world where there are so very few genuine surprises, are these parties really necessary?
Are they not simply obnoxious presentations of tailored shopping lists? If a child is born without one of these ludicrous color oriented parties, will the adults not know what gender the child is? Another symptom of the extreme narcissism perpetuated and rewarded in our culture.
I'm curious, too, whether these people throw baby showers, then, too, for another round of gift grabbing...
Makes me want to get pregnant, then have a gender reveal using, I dunno, yellow and green.
