4. One of my earliest memories from Central California

My sister, age 11, was walking me home. We saw neighbors burning garbage in a large metal drum. It was non-burning season. My sister left me and ran home to tell my mother. I complained about my sister leaving me. My mother said it was urgent ... she had to call the fire department to stop those people from burning even in a metal drum. A spark could start a forest fire and we would all be in danger. So I was 5 and my sister was 11. I can’t believe those people will be parents soon and that anyone allows them to use matches.
