Just posted this elsewhere. It's raining ash. A good snow would be a blessing, because right now it feels like hell.

Every 2 years or so we have it safety pruned. They're beautiful iconic giants with delicate innards. It's even dangerous for arborists to prune them by climbing. But we had it done last fall so it's as good as it can be.

7" of wet snow in September with trees in full leaf is a deadly combination.

We just got finished putting bungee chords around our clump of hot wing maple. I've got heavier drapes on windows of a small cottage that's heated by electric. I sure hope we don't have a power failure. Or at least my husband is thinking about that. I've been bugging him about getting a generator - for years.
