In 1932 I had many friends who didn’t care for the Nazis, but had been disappointed in the Social Democratic Party for so long they simply didn’t vote. And a few I knew voted for Hitler with a smile, “wollte die Dinge aufrüttel,” to shake the system. Those were their last votes.

Shake things up a bit,.. take a broom and sweep out the old cob webs.

Nazis seem so well connected to the higher echelons of the industrial, commercial, and political systems. A lot of people think they should be given the chance and handed the powers to run the government. What could possibly go wrong ?
