My great niece had to have a COVID test the other day.

She had symptoms. The test, it was negative.

She is 13 months old.

Her parent had to return to their teaching job the week before. Teachers only, students return next week. They are not testing any student or teacher. Nothing. The Governor though has assured us that they have a rapid response team ready at the first sign of an outbreak. No preemptive measures, only an 'after the fact' rapid response.

I am frightened for us all.

he was in New York for a few days and when he got back to Austin he was sick...he's an asthmatic and he was having trouble breathing...his temp spiked, he was lethargic, he had a headache from hell and a dry hacking cough...he couldn't smell or taste anything..he went to an urgent care facility and the doctor there tested him for strep and the flu...nothing...doctor prescribed a steroid and sent him home...his symptoms lasted for 8 days and then he gradually got better...I believe covid has been "making the rounds" far longer than early spring...

article that was linked here months ago, a company in Canada tracked over 800,000 people flying in and out of Cina in December, unhindered. This plague has been spreading since then.

I'm in Illinois where it's easy to get tested. Our county has multiple free drive-up sites. My daughter's immune system is suppressed and she's gone in for testing twice -- both times negative. Could your little great niece get another test just to be sure? And what about her parents? Are there any arrangements for teachers to be tested? I'm so sorry you're under this extra stress.

As for testing. They are not testing the teachers or students prior to the start of school. However Baker-R assures us there will be a rapid response AFTER they start getting sick. He had been doing a decent job as an R. Now I give him a fail.

Thank you. Hedda.
