In fact, Trump's decision to hitch him to his presidential bid was because no one else wanted to be dragged down in scandal. For Pence, though, it was a political lifeline, as his re-election prospects in Indiana seemed bleak.

It still blows my mind why Pence is the head of the Coronavirus task force. He has no scientific credentials.
