I assume this is s a scam since it was sent to the wrong email address and the link was be hidden.
But, the real problem is that I'm reading it on my phone and Gmail doesn't let me see the headers or the real link, so I can't do some quick checking.
Gmail on this phone sucks for other reasons too, but most of them are because Android sucks. Should I have gone Apple?

(26,732 posts)Yes... it's almost certainly a scam.
If you're worried, you can always log in to the service (NOT from the link in the email)... but in almost all cases, it's clear from the sending email address. You may have to adjust your email setting to show the full email (rather than the label they select), but it's usually a dead giveaway.
For instance - the one I received over the weekend was from mata-ngantukjnuue-nerehtrombjt@opiniyngbaguskawan

Reading mail on a real computer (I use Thunderbird) I can see --as you do- that the real sender is paypals@tutsipoo.ch

(233 posts)Simply hit REPLY to these kinds of suspicious emails, then look at the sender's real email address. It will tell you whether it's from PayPal, legitimate companies, or scams.

(26,355 posts)If it looks sketch, and even if it doesn't, don't click that link.
When it comes to sites like my bank site and Paypal and such, I never follow links from emails to go to those sites. I use my bookmarks, or I type the URL myself. And I make sure it's the correct URL - "paypal.com", not "sketchy.ru".

(22,912 posts)I got that a month ago and contacted PayPal directly myself rather than respond to the phising email. They had me forward them the email and they confirmed it was a scam.

(16,784 posts)I get them from Square as well. Square deposits show up on my Bank statements. I have NEVER refunded anyone for services from my business.
NEVER give out passwords, bank account info, etc. These are Phishing emails to con you out of your money, etc.
