the orange asshole's main legacy will, I think, be in how he attempted to destroy some basic elements of life in the US - that our vote counts, that our vote will even be counted, that when we put something in the mail it will get to its destination, that scientists and professionals in the health profession will apply rigor to their work and we can largely believe advice or news that emanate from them - just for a start.
Serial lying, and media's focus on selling ads by playing the "both sides do it" game, simply erode trust in the most basic things that many of us have taken for granted. What orange asshole and his cabal and protectors have done is sow seeds of doubt everywhere in places they don't belong. The damage has been, is, horrific, and will take a long time to heal...by belief is that things will really never be the same. Biden and Harris have an unimaginable amount of work to do to start the healing process - and it is likely that nearly the half of the country, and an entire major party, will do everything to obstruct. Toss the clusterfuck that is COVID, and the behavior of so many on police forces, and guns run amok, and persistent racial disparities, too much wealth in the hands of so few, and climate change, and so many human failings into the mix....and it is simply hard to comprehend.
You will find me in the garden, or on a forest trail, or in a kayak, with my wife and dogs. So hard to find some emotional and mental peace these bizarre days.
