To treat a tarmac meeting as a threat to the DOJ's independence while characterizing the literal use of the DOJ to attempt to quash a lawsuit against a sitting President for misconduct that he may or may not have engaged in as unusual is a pretty bad bungling of the message.

I'm still a subscriber, but I've complained a lot. Nevertheless, it was still the NYT that did that incredible investigation into Trump's tax fraud, and one of those reporters who encouraged Mary Trump to write a book.

maybe we've lost the sense of outrage. This is the new norm in Trump's America, and we are all, the press corps, media, politicians, the public, justice groups, overwhelmed by the constant chaos, the unrelenting assault on ethical governance and normal standards of operation.

I would like to see the Dems take a more aggressive role in oversight and subpoena every instance of questionable behavior, but that's a fantasy under the current admin. Ideally, Trump's lackeys should appear before Congress and explain themselves, but oversight has been rendered moot because the DOJ is so corrupt it has ceased to function as the prosecutor for the people.

at the failure of people here to get it. The MSM, including CNN and MSNBC are not liberal, they push the right wing narrative all of the time. CNN and MSNBC may put a progressive slant to the narrative but they are still talking about a subject that Trump wants talked about.

Slowly the MSM is allowing the pandemic to fall from the front page. It is hard to do that with Sturgis and what is going to happen after Labor Day but it is doing a lot of talking about vaccines instead of infections and deaths.

The "Atlantic" article will slowly fade away also, we will start seeing more of Steve Kornacki at the big board.

Can you imagine what cable news would be doing if Loretta Lynch defended president Obama in a rape case against him? It would be a 24/7 news fest. I haven't seen squat on cable news about Barr defending Trump.

Allow me to post this for the millionth time;

Fox News says Obama beats his wife.
CNN says it needs more information.
MSNBC says no he doesn't.

Point being, all 3 networks are talking about president Obama beating his wife.

Trump is very good at controlling the narrative because the MSM allows it to happen.

Until ronald regan who is now considered the first president to start the disassembling of our Country, there were TV, Radio & News Paper regulations. Now a problem that the "news" organizations are going to say anything because the "news" is now for profit and news anchors, who are now paid six and seven figures, are bought and paid for (and they don't want to interrupt the Mana flow) so this is what we get:
https://www.filmsforaction.org/watch/capitalism-and-monopolies-how-five-companies-control-all-us-media/

I have longed for the era where we wake up and appoint decent experts into office and I'm hoping that with this election we can get a few. And I hope that upon the completion of a take over we will have a total reversal of the last 3.75 years. But, that will only happen if we start screaming REVERSE CITIZENS UNITED. That ruling allowed for the flooding of MONEY into OUR political system, and with the republican changes even foreign monies are entering our political system. With the reversal/re-regulating of the media and the reversal of Citizens United we can gain control of our Country again. Don't get me wrong all those who are presently financially gaining because of Citizens United will fight us but that's what the ballot box is for.

This brings me to what also ails our Country, voting. The republican party has spent 50-60 years telling people that their votes don't matter. And now the propaganda is paying off. The lack of voting and inability to see past our noses that it's ONLY ONE PARTY, the republican party, that has benefited from people not voting. And since that era our Country has slid into disarray. That is what the the republican party wants because in confusion the grifters will loot. And, they have stopped hiding hiding the looting as they do it in plain site.

Let's hope he goes to jail just like Mitchell did in Nixon's time if/when Biden gets elected.

Also, The New York Times should change the title of the article and the introduction to the article. The title of the article should not say Justice Dept. Intervenes to Help Trump in E. Jean Carroll Defamation Lawsuit, it should say Bill Barr/Attorney General Bill Barr Intervenes to Help Trump in E. Jean Carroll Defamation Lawsuit. The introduction of the article should not read "Government lawyers make the unusual move of seeking to take over President Trump's defense in a suit brought by Ms. Carroll, who has accused Mr. Trump of raping her in the 1990s", it should read "Bill Barr makes the unusual move of seeking to use the Justice Department to take over President Trump's defense in a suit brought by Ms. Carroll, who has accused Mr. Trump of raping her in the 1990s". I was under the impression that the Attorney General was the head of the Justice Department. It seems that this move would not have been possible without the approval/desire of Bill Barr. The title and introduction of the article make it seem as if it was just lawyers from the Justice Department who decided on their own, without the approval of Bill Barr, to make this move. I doubt this was a bottom up move in the Justice Department. Likely, this was a decision made by Bill Barr. The title and the introduction should reflect that likelyhood.
