Suppose a company comes up with a covid vaccine.

What would it take for you to trust it—and get the vaccine?

I’m asking because I don’t know what it would take for me. But it would take a heck of a lot more than just the Dotard’s say.

And from professionals in the field, with big degrees and years of experience running the trials.

Not loudmouthed asshole politicians.

(I know that I'm lucky to be able to afford the 'luxury'.) This 6 months has taken a psychological toll, that's for sure, but otherwise I'm healthy. I'm already planning on cutting my weekly errand runs down to once or twice a month, once the colder weather arrives.

That's what we're planning on doing. (Thank goodness for Facetime and "Zoom" to keep in touch with family and loved ones. Right now that's all we've got.)

We only go out to doctor's appts, Rx pickups, to check mail, and to buy groceries on Senior Citizen day at my local grocery store.

NO socializing (except online) and no visitors (except online) ... I'm not a big phone-talker, but I do enjoy Facetime... that's fun.

It has worked so far and the same procedures have kept me from having so much as a cold in over 4 years. I'm being extra vigilant now and I'm wearing a mask (which I've never done before), so I feel pretty safe.

If a safe and effective vaccine for the COVID virus is developed, it will be no surprise or secret. Such a thing in reality is the end product of a deliberate, extensive, and collaborative research effort. Although, there are those companies and political agendas out there who would like you to believe otherwise. Because, they want exclusivity to claim the credit and ultimately the moneys. Where we see salvation they amorally see a gold mine.

1) Open and widely reported and published paper trail recording the development and testing of the vaccine.
2) Acceptance of the vaccine as safe and a well defined level of effectiveness by international medical, research, and public health organizations. (Excluding, those co-opted by special interests, i.e., the USHHSD, CDC, and the FDA.)

I have personal years long friendships with several people who work there and I know them to be sincere and have the public interest firmly held in their hearts.

But, unfortunately, they have had their voices squelched by the self serving minions of a petulant man-child and a political party who's addiction to power has led them to very inhumane and irrational behaviors to maintain.

9. One add on to that -- Confirmed data of no complications for at least 18 months

One of the things that makes me worried on this one is that in rushing to find a solution that they will ignore the chnace for longer term side effects. I want to know that there will not be some sort of adverse reaction 18 months after I take the vaccine.... and that it will be effective for more than 3 months.

I am skeptical that any vaccine will work and be safe since we have never had a truly effective coronavirus vacciine for any of its various forms. So I would add

3) Confirmed no bad side effects 18 months later
4) Evidence that it provides protection for at least 1 year

......if Dr. Fauci and Dr. Vin Gupta appeared in public and announced the vaccine was 100% safe. One other thing. They would have to do it without a gun pointed at their heads.

I will not be listening to anyone even remotely connected to the Trump administration. Not even Fauci. The published reports from the trials will tell the story, and will be widely reported by unbiased media outlets.

Why would anyone do otherwise?

In any case, once those results appear, there will be a considerable time before the vaccine will be available to me, anyhow.

Assuming that nothing bad has happened in that time, the vaccine is probably safe enough - considering that the alternative is risking Covid-19 and having a 1 in 10 or worse chance of dying if I got it.

But people in high-risk occupations, like bar tending, should have priority.
