In response to all of the boring political news, I hereby announce:

My big news for the day:

I have 12 brand new Fruit of the Loom "fashion briefs" in the washing machine. When they are dry, I'll be throwing out all of my old ones.

That's how exciting my life is right now, so I thought I'd share my glee. Aren't you glad you read this?

And please explain the "fashion" aspect.

My life is much more exciting: I have made the difficult, painful decision not to get rid of my raggedy old couch because the cat has just decided it's where she wants to nap. I am now watching the cat sleep. It's almost more excitement than I can manage.

As for the "fashion" thing, Fruit-of-the-Loom calls all men's briefs that are not tightie whities "fashion briefs." I guess if you ran around in your undies, they'd be more fashionable than plain white ones, but I don't do that. My wife calls them "undapants."

My mother told me to always have nice, clean underwear on, in case you got in an accident or something and got taken to the hospital. My old ones were definitely not hospital-ready.

Not everyone gets 12 brand new pair at a time.
And then you have some of those nasty billionaires, never wash their under ware. NEVER.
They just throw them away and put on a new pair every damn day!!

time in the dryer.

Why wash brand new underwear? Well, new clothing always has been treated with some sort of chemicals to make them look better as you take them out of the package. I made the mistake of putting on some new ones once without washing them. Contact dermatitis much? And in a, well, sensitive area. So, underwear gets washed before wearing. Every time.

Now I will treat myself to some news misery for a few hours. Then I'll go out and water it all. And sometimes, most days, there will be something to eat out there. We do a lot of garden grazing when tending the plants.

Rupert Brooke would probably appreciate your Fruit of the Loom experience.

Glad you shared. It inspired me to add a Rupert poem to the 1000 lines I am memorizing during this unique period of time.

One thousand lines forming my personal wall of protection against the banal.

rly groovy socks. mix of colors and patterns, but all the same thickness, which is how i match my socks.
but i am waaaaaay behind on my laundry, and dont have a pair to wear now that it is chilly here in chi.

got a couple not too dirty ones, tho, which are keeping my tootsies warm.

i have a sock rule, tho. i have a lot of crazy socks. when i got on vaca, i always look for good ones. but i must have 2 pairs. that way i have a matched pair for those rare occasions where i wish to match, until i lose half of them.

My office is in the basement, where the washer and dryer are located. If I do laundry once a week, I can get away with two loads for my wife and I, most of the time, to handle all of our clothes. Sheets are a separate thing, done on a different day.

So, I rarely need more than a week's worth of things. However, I always have more, just in case.

I hate pairing up socks, though, when I'm folding and putting away laundry. So, all of my daily wear socks are identical, to save time. I wear white crew socks with gray toes and heels. I buy them 12 at a time, and toss 12 old ones, but, I have four pairs of dress socks, for those few occasions where I must wear something other than tennis shoe-style hiking boots.

I will not mention my wife's clothing, to protect her privacy. Her laundry is unmentionable.
