No One Cares Less About Their Customers Than Microsoft THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST

I am doing a data recovery on a bad hard drive. It has been running for 3 days. Windows decided it would update itself and reboot my computer. No way to turn this crap off without hacking.

F You Microsoft.

I lose 3 days because you are all uncaring assholes.

Feh.

However, I did learn the “boot and power off soon as you see the windows logo, three times” trick to get past the auto repair that won’t repair. So
I’ve got that going for me.

Good luck!

You have my sympathies.

3 days to recover data? Wow ... that thing is in BAD shape.

Sure it's going to ever finish? I would have my doubts, hate to say. But good luck

I always disable automatic updates on Windows 10. I let them automatically download, but not get installed until I OK it.

I've always used to Enterprise version, however. Maybe that's not an option on all versions of Windows?

thing to do when you're starting something critical.

You can also change the hours updates will happen, like to 3AM when you are presumably doing nothing but sleeping or checking porn sites. I don't trust that to work, though

Used to be you could skip 'em or turn 'em off completely, but too many people didn't turn 'em back on.
