Those holidays are about reflection and hope, that would make this year’s versions special memories for life.

6. New National Holiday.

In England, the date of Mary Tudor's death, known to history as Bloody Mary, November 17, 1558, which put Elizabeth I on the throne, was a national holiday for some 300 years.

So yeah, a new National Holiday might be in order. I will point out that it will tend to coincide with Election Day, but I'm sure that can be dealt with.

I spoke with my sister the other day. We are about 600 miles apart, and I last saw her a year ago. I briefly brought up the possibility of my visiting her for either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but we agreed that it was very unlikely at this point. Sigh.

And I'm not anywhere near as deprived as people whose parents are in nursing homes and have not been able to visit since March. That is vastly worse. At least my sister and I are both in good health and are confident we will eventually be able to see each other.
