They don't worship Trump despite his character, they worship him because of his character.

They love the fact that he's an old testament authoritarian figure who's cruel and brutal to the weak. And above all they absolutely love the way he treats women as sex objects and property. They even love the idea that he's cheated on his wife and raped several women, even children. He's the biblical version of the man they they most strive for. I suspect they even like that he sexualizes his own daughter.

Their warped version of their religion is similar to Muslim extremism, they believe that men are alphas and women are second class citizens, and they believe that women deserve to be raped and abused if they leave the house and choose to work or dress un-modestly.

Trump is the Christian ideal for them, he's what all the evangelical men wish they could all be, and he's what all the evangelical women think is a strong man who crushes the weak before him and punishes women by violence and sexual assault.
