3. Trump Hates Our Troops is good, and it's an effective video.
However I've helped with a few small campaigns in the distant past, and conventional wisdom is that one avoids using the other candidate's name.
Every time one uses the opposing candidate's name, whether good or bad, it keeps his or her name in view. Name recognition is a factor in how people decide to vote, whether it's conscious or not. It's the same thing in product advertising. You don't mention the competing product because you want to keep your product's name in buyers' minds. So the more people see Biden Biden Biden and Harris, Harris, Harris, whether on signs, bumper stickers, hats, T-shirts, tv ads, etc., the better. A negative slogan like Trump Hates Our Troops, while it is very attention-grabbing, also may not work as well as a positive message like Support Our Troops. The first one issues a challenge that demands a reaction, positive or negative, from the viewer. The second one is a traditional and familiar slogan that generally gets a good reaction. Coupled with the names of our candidates, it can generate a positive feeling for them, while also suggesting that the other candidate does not support the troops. |
