(1,823 posts)Opens with cop demanding kid turns around and puts his hands behind his back. Kid is complying.
Kid is asking why hes being arrested.
Cop claims kid wouldnt leave him alone.
Kid claims he was just telling him its disrespectful to wear a thin blue line mask (um... did he miss the uniform cop was wearing?)
Onlooker asks if kid is under arrest.
Kid says cop asked to see his ID and he wasnt under arrest so didnt have to show it.
Cop says he told him to get away.
Kid says he doesnt have to show ID without cause (hes correct)
Kid asks again if hes under arrest.
Cop screams yes! And is clearly rattled.
Another onlooker offers hes known kid since he was 3 years old?
Weird lute, piccolo, or flute (???) music playing in background the entire time.

(50,327 posts)The one being put in handcuffs had previously said to the officer that he thought his 'thin blue line' mask was disrespectful, the officer told him to go away, asked the guy for his ID, the guy refused, the officer is yelling consistently throughout and being very verbally aggressive and after being asked repeatedly why he was arresting the guy, the officer finally said he was being arrested for failing to disperse.
It totally looks and sounds to me like a type A cop on a power trip.

(53,410 posts)The woman taking the video got into the argument.
Evidently the young man told the policeman that he needed to cover his nose with the mask and the officer ordered him to disperse. The young man continued and the officer then yelled at him to turn around and he cuffed him.
The young man kept asking him if he was under arrest and the lady taking the video started asking the cop the same question. The officer screamed that yes, he was under arrest and the young man and woman kept asking him what the charge was. That was around the end of the video where you see the cop looking around as if hes confused or looking for help.
The cop couldnt answer why, except for yelling early on that he had ordered the man to move along. He also ended up adjusting his mask so it covered his nose.
The young man kept his cool throughout and the cop never displayed any of cool himself.

Gonna cost the good taxpayers of Pittsburgh six figures in a civil settlement.

(2,636 posts)Pittsburgh police have issued a statement: officers may not wear masks not approved by the Department.
Backlash for bullyboi behavior is real. That cop needs a psych eval, and then he needs to face charges for false arrest.
Annoying someone, even a cop, is not a crime. It's little brother behavior.

(10,270 posts)Because clearly the kid is smarter. Smdh maybe the cop should get fired, and we could train the kid to do his job. Better outcomes for everyone !
